Anyone use the NiteRider Pro 1500 LED Race Light??
Anyone have any suggestions for a solid light setup under $300?

My L&M's have held up pretty well.
Get your Vizsla's a couple of these and take them with you?

I use Red on one and White on the other, works great! Even just letting your dogs out a night, mine always have them on the collar
Last night was my first ride of the season with the lights on.

I had a fun ride last night. Got the awesome feeling of going faster than my light down a familiar doubletrack. Later on the ride I did a full airborne superman into a classic faceplant (complete with dirt sandwich). I apparently hit a piece of the stone wall the trail goes over.
Started riding with lights this week. Whole other dimension of riding.... so much fun.
I did almost smoke a bull elk coming back through town the other night though. Bit scary.
Flying the Bluehouse colors in Western Canada! Let me know if you want some rad skis!!
"He is god of snow; the one called Ullr. Son of Sif, step son of Thor. He is so fierce a bowman and ski-runner that none may contend! He is quite beautiful to look upon and has all the characteristics of a warrior. It is wise to invoke the name of Ullr in duels!"

^^ That's definitely one of the cool parts of night riding (and riding in general), unplanned animal interaction. Its really cool coming up on something in nature like that, but 9 times out of 10 it scares me shitless!
I recently picked up the magicshine MJ 880. It is my first 'real' light for my bike. It is amazing. I started with it mounted to my bars, but now have the helmet mount.
It is great and cheap compared to the other lights out there.
I'll be heading out with my shiny new Ay-Up lights tonight - super stoked!
I used to ride at night quite often ~10yrs ago, before white LEDs existed, on home made 20watt halogen lights with house-brick gel-cell batteries. They did the trick but man these new lights are so small & lite weight!

I don't have the coin for something super burly right now, but I've been hitting the car at dusk. Glad to have something to make the trail survivable.
Been out a couple times now and the light I posted above works pretty great strapped to my helmet. Some of the other guys have the fancy expensive stuff which doesn't seem any brighter than what I have. I bought another cheap led flashlight and mount for the handlebar so I can get some light right in front of me and I get to try out tonight. Don't expect to be back to the car until around midnight. Should be fun.
I was looking at one of these, myself. Are you running this by itself? On the bar? From what I read, it's so bright that the reflection constricts pupils and restricts your vision if it's on the helmet.
If one on the bars is enough, this may be my first "real" bike light, as well.
I have ridden with the 1000 lumen on the bars by itself and with the 400 lumen version on the bars and the 1000 on the helmet. I did not have much problem with the brighter one being mounted on the helmet. Though one could argue I had enough light from the two that it did not really matter anyway. To be honest I had significant stray light bothering me just from the one mounted on the handlebar when I used it by itself to be annoying. I did not have much issue from the helmet mounted light when using it by itself. I think it depends on where the mount is on the helmet. I mounted my pretty much in the center at it highest point on my head.
if you only have 1 light its better on the helmet IMO. You can see round corners etc with a helmet light, handlebar only never seems to be pointing the right way. Assuming you are riding single track of course....
