IMDb doesn’t list a film titled No Foolin in Jennifer Lawrence’s filmography…

    Probably means No Hard Feelings?

Thought it was reasonably entertaining. Not gonna win any awards, but it was a decent entry in the genre, and nice to have a modern take on it that's not Seth Rogan's.

    CHARLEY VARRICK
This 1973 gritty classic showcases Walter Matthau in a darker light than he’s usually remembered for.
Directed by Don Siegel, one of Hollywood’s most tried-and-true Old School action directors—he helmed the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Dirty Harry, amongst other classics—this endeavor is lean, mean, and edgy in all the right places.

"The Sting"- 1973, Redford, Newman. Watch it. Haven't seen it in years but just came across it again. I bet it gets remade by Pitt/Decaprio and Clooney soon.

DookeyXXX, have you gotten into The Brothers Sun yet?

I went back a page or two and didn’t see it.

It reminds me of what a 1984 Jackie Chan movie would be like in the opening sequence, but brought forward 40 years. At least in that first scene.

It reminds me of a lot of the movies I started to find when I collected Kung fu flicks and would go to the Asian markets and buy some food, trinkets, and random movies once I exhausted all of their stashes of Shaw brother stuff.

I actually binged it this past Friday during my Covid quarantine.
I enjoyed it for the most part, though it dipped into heavy soap opera territory with the later episodes (they foreshadowed this several times by having the older Sun brother getting hooked on General Hospital, but still…).
My only real complaint was that Michelle Yeoh didn’t really let loose with her wushu skills. That said, what martial arts choreography there was was pretty solid; I just wanted more, way more kung fu fighting!

I do really need to see Gymkata now, though…

    Society of the Snow

Fantastic film. I ran through the gauntlet of feelings about the movie as well as through the movie. It’s intriguing, uncomfortable, compelling, intentional and I see why it’s recognized as a well done film.

    That was quite a ride.

Man, I am always a sucker for a good love story, especially if it’s augmented with ass-kicking and sci-fi goodness.

Finished this the other night and really liked it. But I agree that it needed way, way more Kung Fu fighting.

Yes, this new one is probably better than Alive, (though it's been a long time since I've seen Alive, and I do recall the older movie being very well done).

Another thumbs up for Buried, too; I'm impressed that Netflix sought that one out for streaming, and it's excellent. Damn, I remember being glued to that news story (right after coming out of a harrowing sufferfest backcountry ski trip; I was in Yosemite's Cathedral Range at the time of the Alpine avalanche).

I recall when this story unspooled in stages a few years ago. It was weird how it played out then, but the details of what actually went down are not pretty. There's a Tahoe connection as well.

Coincidentally this just popped back into the news.

I can't speak for anyone else, but all I know about these things is what the media and/or the authorities tell me. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they honestly just get it wrong, and sometimes there are some other things going on.

    This also comes to mind...

Public and media opinion during the trial was polarised, with "fanciful rumours and sickening jokes" and many cartoons. In particular, antagonism was directed towards Lindy Chamberlain for reportedly not behaving like a "stereotypical" grieving mother.

For sure. Unlike mcski I'm not jumping to conclusions either way.
