I'm still working my way through Synchronic.

Thought it was about new THC substitute.

The Game Changers directed by James Cameron may deserve its own thread on this here action sports forum but I’ll plug it here. Interesting documentary about the athletic benefits of a plant based diet. Well worth a watch.

I think they said it was meant to be a synthetic ayahuasca. Sold at your local head shop. Haha. That would be nuts.

Watched Synchronic last night and found it to have been a waste of my time. So farfetched I would need to be on acid to enjoy it. 2/10

    White Tiger was interesting.

Synchronic was another entry in Netflix's rapidly growing catalog of "throw some money at a recognizable star, save money on script, effects, and all other aspects of competent movie making."

That said, I thought Synchronic was better than most in that category. Like most Netflix movies, the script and general premise of the movie would have been well served with some significant editing, but at least the movie had a fairly consistent vibe. I thought the director did a decent job with the material he was given, and Mackie at least seemed like he was sort of trying and not just there for a quick paycheck. But at the end of the day, it's still the modern equivalent of a made for TV movie.

Also, an FYI, as far as I can tell NF had nothing to do with the production of Synchronic...they are just steaming it.

I have yet to see it, but I was not a huge fan of the directors' previous film The Endless.
I am, however a huge fan of their film Spring.

On episode 8 of The Staircase. What I find shocking is this. How incredibly, monumentally, stupid Peterson was to hire a Jewish New York Lawyer, and foreign experts, to try a murder case in Durham NC in +-2000. Especially when your life is on the line. He was lucky not to fry. But then that's probably the point to the whole thing.

The nice jury consultant lady had the best line in the whole show.

That, in a very real sense, is the analogy, this is real life shit. No sweetheart herman munster. Crooked experts and a stool for a judge etc.

I'm almost through season 3 of Babylon Berlin on Netflix and think this show is great. An awesome historical drama made with a modern aesthetic and great production values.

Yeah - very pleasant surprise for a YA show. I guess you could say it's a YA/A. Really came to appreciate the Crows by the end.

The Taco Chronicles are just about the best thing I've seen on TV. Well, not the typical best, but I love this series.

IMHO, Alexandre Aja has done one great movie (Haute Tension) and one really good movie (Horns) during his career, the rest have been glossy, sub-par, tossaway B-movies.
This, perhaps, could be a return to the promise he showed back in 2003.
    Early buzz is pretty strong.

    Streaming starting May 21

Be warned: the trailer appears to give away the entire movie...I wish I hadn't watched it.

FWIW, the teaser is much more vague and doesn't seem to spoil anything:
