Ozark.
Three episodes in.
Not bad.
Really digging the 3rd season of Bloodline. The first 2 were pretty decent, but this 3rd one is awesome.
Well, season one was very good.
Looking forward to season two.
So I was really just wanting something light to watch tonight. Maybe something food related. Getting a bit too much bourdain lately so I randomly pick "Barbeque" thinking 1:40 of people talking about grilling meat might be nice. I was expecting some Food networkesque thing. Instead what I got was a sublime meditation on cooking meat with fire and how it both transcends and defines culture. A film with people from around the world speaking in their own words in their own language about how the simple act of gathering around a fire to cook unites us all. it is beautiful and moving and highly recommended. And I really need to cook some fucking meat over a fire like right now.

Disjointed is fucking hilarious.
Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Natures peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn. - John Muir

“This is infinity here,” he said. “It could be infinity. We don’t really don’t know. But it could be. It has to be something — but it could be infinity, right?” - Trump, on the vastness of space, man
Interesting; it appears to be one of those "critics hate it but the public loves it" shows, at least according to Rotten T
Much better than the inverse, of course.
Little Australian gem: The Code (season 1). Superb production quality, great setting (unless you have a fly phobia), crackling plot, interesting characters. There's supposed to be a second season, aired in 2016, but I've been unable to locate it yet.
Twin fucking Peaks
I couldn't figure it out at first. Granted I hadn't watched the original for 20+ years or so and I didn't watch that second season bullshit. I remember liking the original but I was usually pretty fucked up back then. I thought I would try "The Return" because...well why the fuck not? I figured I'd have to be in the same mindset as back in the mid 90's for full effect as I remember it being a relatively unconventional program. So... I would try to only watch it after a few beers or cocktails. And a few bong rips. And a little xanax. And usually 2-6 percs, or similar drug with equal amounts of oxycodone. I would watch it and enjoy it for a while until I would suddenly come to and think "wow this is a trippy show, awesome it's back, but what the fuck is happening?" I kept watching 1-2 episodes a week (within the same "mindset" of course) thinking if I kept watching, and getting fucked up, everything would make more sense and that I would eventually catch on and I would get sucked in like other shows, but it didn't.
Not until I got to episode 15 that is. I thought, hmm...,the show turned a corner? Maybe they tried to tie all of the nonsense together and form a more cohesive plot? Force some sensible direction into the show to reduce the blue ball swelling resulting from the first 14 episodes?
Or maybe it was from a different cocktail I thought I would try? I found myself watching episodes 14 and 15 after 3 strong ghetto sangrias (an inferior version typically consisting cheap red wine and squirt on ice with a little fruit for garnish) and once with a few lower-middle class sangrias (see above, but substitute squirt with grapefruit San Pellegrino and add a floater of grand mariner) plus a boatload of shitty coke (lesser amounts needed if using good coke from what I hear), and an indica dominant concentrate. And a couple bourbon gingers for leveling (claro que si).
WOW! What a difference! I was able to better appreciate the director's subtleties, the aimless storylines that may or may not be relevant, and general trippiness that is Twin Peaks whilst having the patience to hang on the edge of my seat, maintaining focus, during the 30 second to 2 minutes worth of awkward moments at the end of a sometimes meaningless scene where nothing happens (minus the occasional artsy slow zoom in.../classic).
Anyhoo...4/5. Not sure if I should watch the rest of the season or not. I'll report back.
Did the whole second season of Narcos in a few days. I might have actually liked it better than season 1. I do tire of subtitles though. Why can't them Mexicans speak english, goddamit?
Also been watching "Rake". Aussie show about a ne'er do well lawyer. Pretty funny.
Been waiting for a good time to blow through S3 of Narcos. If you don't like subtitles, don't watch the El Chapo series. It was made south of the border, so unless there are gringos talking, it is all subtitles. But an interesting watch. Looks like they are set up for more as they left it mid story.
