Ha! Have you seen Lena in Dredd? Now THAT'S a face!

Re Beacon 23, I'm getting irritated at the juvenile plot shenanigans. I guess it's to be expected with 15 executive producers. Hard to believe Howey's book that this was based on was written after the Silo books. I'd be willing to assume that the TV production took unsanctioned liberties, but Howey supposedly was involved.

    Several episodes later .......
This show is trash - do not bother.

JFC. Stuck it out to the bitter end, just to see how they would tie up this dumpster fire, and it completely exceeded my expectations for utter shite.

    Is anyone else watching Culprits?
I set it to PVR and we decided to try it out over the Christmas holiday, and we’ve now caught up on all the episodes that have been broadcast.

Fargo has a new season running right now. I skipped the last one, but this one is worth a watch.

I tried Murder at the End of the World last night. I thought it was rather boring. Not sure I'll even try to watch the second episode.

    Just discovered Loudermilk.

Season 1 is the best, but if you dig S1, then S2 is fine. I haven't started S3.

Good show for anyone that needs a reminder of what a drunk asshole they can (or potentially) be.

We’ve been watching “The Bear” on Hulu. It’s really well done, if you liked “Shameless” I think you will like it.

Bear is better. Really well done. I thought Shameless was so so, but The Bear is brilliant.

Best you don't - stuck it out to the end, and was annoyed.

We started “Dear Child” on Boxing Day.
Definitely has some Criminal Minds vibes, but we’re still enjoying it.

    **Best TV Shows of 2023**

Up to Episode 4, Slow Horses was far & away the best of 23 for me.

But two lethargic horses to finish season 3 put The Gold top of my list.

Binged it the past two days.

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1406367...q_the%2520gold

The rest are in no particular order

    Sure I've still missed some

    The Gold
    Slow Horses
    Reservation Dogs
    Dark Winds
    Little Bird
    Drops of God
    The Bear
    Succession
    Fargo
    Hijack
    The Diplomat
    Bosch Legacy
    Your Honour

    *Honourable Mentions*

    Justified: City Primeval
    Perry Mason
    Culprits
    The Last of Us
    Happy Valley
    Full Circle
    The Woman In The Wall
    Boat Story

    **Comedies**

    Deadloch
    Fisk
    Barry
    Winning Time
    Ted Lasso

Doesn't seem like there's an Apple TV thread, and this is old news, but "Shrinking" is a fantastic series. Well written, great banter with mostly believable characters, funny as hell, and a good heart.

Also I haven't seen mention of Masters of the Air.

First two episodes were very good.

The flying scenes are stunningly spectacular, but I found the characters to be hard to get invested in so far.

    Yep and yep.

The later is a similar issue that I had with The Pacific, compared to Band of Brothers. Maybe that cast was just so exceptional that any other in these shows looks so, so.

I did hear an interview with the writer of Masters where he explained that there would necessarily be a higher turnover of characters because of the nature of the loses the 100th suffered.

Yeah, Brothers really leaned in on the characters, Pacific less so, Masters (so far) even less). The theaters were certainly very different, as is air vs ground, but still ....... even with a high turn over ..... seem like that could actually be a strength in character development.

Griselda is decent. A few episodes in. Wish they didn’t make Sophia ugly though because she is a joy to look at. Pretty much just Scarface with a woman lead so far.
