Started watching Ballers this weekend... good mindless man soap opera that is basically an entourage esque show.

Just started watching this HBO series called "Game of Thrones". Just finished first few episodes. holy shit the sheer amount of breastage is impressive, pointless sex and nudity "sexposition". Love it. My bet is Ned Stark ends up ruling the kingdoms, he's got a good head on his shoulders.

Yes!! So good. I hope we get a second season. First was absolutely hilarious.

And Stranger Things is awesome! I'm glued to it.

    braindead anyone?

Network summer series, no telling how many episodes will be produced but so far quite entertaining.

finally the 3rd season of Rectify on Netflix. Still excellent, and nothing like anything on TV. Looks like it will be a while before the 4th (last) season makes it to Netflix.

First season of Animal Kingdom was good although implausible. Available online (TNT). Shawn Hatosy is scary. Good to see an actor from Southland on another show.

Oh, it's more than a "vibe." The basic story is just a mashup of Stand By Me, Firestarter and IT with a lot of Spielberg, Lucas, Carpenter and Russell homage thrown in for nostalgia's sake. Nifty little show; nothing original here, but that's more than amply made up for by the show's real strength, it's casting. Watched the whole seven hours in one sitting. Enjoyed it. I was playing D&D in my best friend's basement in 1983, so how could I not be drawn in? Nearly 20 years of torture porn garbage and poorly made "found footage" tripe has pretty much ruined the horror-thriller genre for me, so this throwback/homage to the old masters was a welcome change. The old is new again.

    Jonathon Strange and Mr. Norrell.

Sort of a Harry Potter meets Amadeus meets Masterpiece Theater? Miniseries, only 7 hours.
