Pays $8-$10 per hour. If that's too much let us know.

    That's perfect.
Work 10 hours and you almost have enough for a Vail lift pass, and that's if your overqualified and get the big bucks.

Maybe you should STFU in other people's help wanted threads.

$2.72 above minimum to pull orders and answer the phone every now and again. Better deal than washing dishes at a resort.

Can you eat that pass this summer? A job at Bent Gate probably gets you discounts on gear and passes plus they are actually hiring right now.

And now my question. Why the fuck do so many over-the-hill internet losers care so much about the salaries of ENTRY LEVEL outdoor industry jobs posted on here?

Is it though? im betting some of the bennies might be better, i.e. cheaper gear, but dish washer at a resort...gets you a pass and LOTS of skiing..a "normal" 40 hour work week..at basically minimum wage isnt going to get you much skiing thats for sure.

So you can certainly STFU with your comments about what i should and shouldnt comment on...someone doesnt want comments in their "help wanted" ad...? they probably shouldn't post it here fucknuts.

LOL "over the hill internet losers"...anytime you're ready to ski...give me a call...i'll show you "over the hill"..

I care simply because when I started working at the ripe old age of 13 (think 1986 or close to it) i made MUCH more than that as "entry level" golf bag carrier. I didnt have to work any bullshit 40 hour work week...MAYBE more like 2-3 8 hour days and i was pulling in over $100/day. Thats like $300/week for half the hours and roughly the same take home after taxes.

So yeah unless they are looking for some tool bag that will call in sick every pow day, they'd better up the ante on the salary...it should START at $10 and go UP from there to maybe $15/hr, otherwise i see a lot of cost in training new people once you fire or the others quit. Employee turnover blows and you dont learn a "pick and pack" system overnight.

You want dependable people that might actually show for work....you pay for that shit.

You obviously don't know shit about the profitability of outdoor retail or the great number of folks dedicated to learning the business and working hard. They should have little trouble filling this role for this price and if they interview right they will probably find a great teammate.

    Yes you're totally right...

what i do understand is that the person thats applying for this position is likely still in college and isnt looking to be dedicated to "learning" anything. They want a paycheck and the time to have the fun they want to have.

you're not going to find an established professional that will work for that kinda coin. After taxes i can make more flipping burgers at McDonalds AND have MUCH more room for advancement in a global corp like Mickey D's.

But yeah i really dont know shit...ive only been in the workforce nearly 30 years...

you working, or better yet, busting your ass for $10/hour and thats the "high end".

Other than this post, all the other crap, imho, adds zero value and has no business being in this forum. The more of this we see, the less people will want to post credible opportunities for mags here with talent that are looking.

Interesting.. having a "help wanted" forum and you're not suppose to tell the person/company hiring that they'd better pony up more cash if they want the position filled is out of line?

    Hmmm i find that interesting.

If you were actually interested in working for them, and felt that way, it would be likely better to pm or email them that question. Otherwise, it's just monday morning quarterbacking, and flinging shit at anyone who might actually be interesting in accepting that job. Like yourself, i've been in the work place for more than a couple years. My first job in the Rockies was for $3.40/hour, which was a nickel over minimum wage, and i was freakin stoked!

But that's just, like, my opinion man...

You are not applying so STFU. The market will provide the feedback in terms if quality and quantity of applicants. All you are doing is scaring away other potential employers who don't want their name and opportunity degraded into a TGR shit fight by some hero like you. And for the record, I would gladly work in a stoked ski touring mountaineer shop part-time for 8 bucks and hour before tax and get much more from it than a bit of money.

Somethings are worth defending from noise, and a way to help people find work is one of them, so why don't you just back down and let it roll.

As the employer they can choose to pay whatever salary they want to pay. I am just glad to see they answered the question with an actual response rather ducking it by saying "based on experience".

Now that they stated the salary you can choose to apply or not. Leave them to make their business decisions based on the budget they have to work with. They will have to decide if in that range they get the type of person they want. My guess is if they need somebody and that is all the budget allows they will find one.
