Saving music from ipod back to mac?

Yeah so the mac crashed and took everything with it, The only thing I really care about is the music. About 80% of it is on the ipod (I hadn't synced it in a while, the other 20% is just gone). A few years ago I used a program called podUtil to do this, they changed the name but it's still around, but it was pretty clunky anyway. Anyone have a better way to do this?

You Need Music Rescue. It works super well for me on my PC. It asks for something like a 10 euro(how the much is that anyways?) donation every 10 or 15 songs transfered, But you don't have to pay a cent if you sit and click the ok button every couple of seconds.

Doesn't the newer iTunes/iPod software support that function? I thought it did.

edit: to LukeSThat's actually the product they used to call podUtil. I think they lost a trademark battle or something on the name. It's cool, though, since I didn't know the new name. I paid Kennett.net once already, I'll do it again unless someone has a better idea. Thanks Luke.

Not sure but I'll check it out when I get the computer back tomorrow with its new empty hard drive.

And thanks Arty, I'll check out Senuti right now.

In iTunes go to Transfer purchases from iPod under File.

Pretty sure that transferred everything for me. Even stuff that wasn't purchased. Been a few months so I might be wrong.

Under iTunes preferences make sure that
[ ] Prevent iPhones and iPods from syncing automatically is checked.

Otherwise it will sync to the new iTunes that doesn't have all your music.

    good luck.

I use WinAmp and it will do what you're looking for, but then I use a PC. I'm pretty sure it has a Mac version though.
