Wow. That's very cool. Some big straight skis in there and the trees! The tree skiing (the vid) was worth watching.

    And G-translated article:
    Dream Powder on homemade skis
Join the students of Øytun Off Piste on homemade skis down a breathtaking descents.

Pupils in Off Piste on-line Øytun folkehøgskule Alta finish this year's production of hand-made skis. The result is 30 ski where no one is equal. Students have 70 to 90 ski days in the legs, where 9 to 10 have been snow on the type of loose, many with their hand-made skis. Now the school year end, and there are not many days left.

    - It's good to see so many proud rivers take the skis out of the press, ready to ski what they made and see how ecstasy has been for a trial utur. We look forward to meeting nesteåreslever, who must begin to think how their build-ski look, says outdoor learning Odd Erik Rønning.

That is awesome. They should set up a satellite class stateside, I am there. Oh, and I don't think you can call telemarkers hippies if they are from Norway. Seems like it is pretty much a national identity thing there.

Damn, those kids are making some big ass powder boards. I should post this link over at gapicski and listen to the ensuing hilarity as guys that rock their 163 Volkl's spass out.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

For a country with negative population growth where they encourage procreation they sure make some good looking people.

The skis in the video are designed to have a turn radius under 20 meters. Don't remember the exact number, but they have a huge shovel with quite a lot of taper.

Rottefella NTNs. Telemark bindings. The front piece is the baseplate. The actual front of the binding is not attached to the baseplate in the photo.

None of the skis this year had camber. There were only built skis that were flat underfoot this year, with rocker in tip/tail. Some even managed to build a ski allmost full reverse camber. Most skis were from 159-164 in front and 135-140 underfoot for the boys, with a length from 190 to 195. Dont remember the girls sizing, but they were just a tad narrower and a bit shorter. Allmost all skis had a lot of tip-taper.

The skis were constructed with a wooden core, with different types of tree, according to what kind of characters we wanted in the skis. Over and under we had fiberglass, with an extra layer underfoot, to strenghten the mounting position. Some of us also layed carbon in the ski, to get a lighter, but at the same time stiff ski.
Sidewalls are wood, and topsheet in most cases plastic. Some skis also just had plywood or fabric soaked with epoxy and sanded before it got some oil.

    Any other questions?

Sweet! Which one is you? You guys did a great job. Who teaches the class? Seems like an industry insider would have to be on deck? Interesting comment regarding tip taper, can you explain why all have so much and why you think its so important. What attributes do you feel are most important in building a powder ski? Camber, rocker (and how much) and so on, Very intersted to hear your comments.
