    Liberty Helix Review?

I decided to replace my 2009 Gotamas with a pair of Liberty Helixs so now I just need to hear everyones thoughts on them. These will be my daily driver and touring ski. I'm 16 years old, 5'5", 130#, and am an expert level skier in the Pacific Northwest. Does anyone have any advice/words of wisdom/reviews of these skis? Any camber/rocker shots?

Backcountry.com has some good shots of all aspects, just click on the pic for larger view:

Whatever funken linked probably has some words from me in it as I own the 187's. Personally I could do without the twin tip, but I'm old skool...although I do appreciate what the extra tail does for swing weight. I really think as far as current trad camber skis go, these are a great, super versatile product for somebody looking for a one ski quiver (in an area that gets snow) or a fat true twin that is easily tourable (they're very light).

Any questions feel free to ask.

no rocker. not similar to goats. helix is lighter weight with no rocker and no camber.

i know theyre different than the goats but i need to know how different? i have goats and what i dont like about them is how hooky they are in the powder, i always feel like i am stuck in my turns whenever there is newer snow, especially wet pnw snow. also how are these on groomers? will i get killed just pointing straight down hardpack?

If you've already decided, why ask? Anyway, they have a real mild extended tip. Nothing dramatic, and not true rocker, which is why you get 50/50 response. Next season's DH have rocker, not sure about H.

As for the rest, in my one time on them, lighter and easier to throw around than my Goats, as good on hard snow, not quite as stable at speed. Definitely livelier. Tip stayed up better than 09 (non-rockered) Goats. Wouldn't be my first choice for heavy/wet snow because of reactivity, but did fine in drier soft where I tried them. I'm also lighter like you.

As an expert skier, sure you've already searched out other good alternatives...

the reason im asking is because ive read as many reviews as i could find but i am just looking to hear more about them as i wait for my gotamas to sell and for me to get the rest of the money that i need. i just like to make sure that i am not misinformed. i have searched our other options and i am now just checking my facts. do you have any recommendations that you would like to throw my way?

Maybe you should state what you are looking for in a ski, then we would know what to recommend. I have a pair of 187 Helixs, but only have one day on them, so not much opinion. I do find them to be a bit turn-ey, similar to the Karhu Team 100. If you are looking for something less hooky, have you considered something that isn't twin tipped? Like the Karhu Storm, or Dynastar LP, among many others. I am wondering if your Goats might be mounted a bit too forward, that can definitely make them hook up more than you would want.

okay. well im looking for a daily driver for the Pacific NorthWest. something that can handle groomers well, but very lively in the trees (hard packed trees and soft snow trees) and wont be dead in the powder and drag around like the gotama. I have thought about no twin tip but i do enough switch riding and switch landings to get rid of the twin tip.
