So, basically it boils down to metal (Prophet 90) or no metal (Flite).
General Benefits to Metal
-stability at speed
-generally better edge hold
-more damp ski (less likely to chatter)
Down side to Metal
-heavier
-stiffness can be a problem for some in the bumps/ ability to bend a ski
-generally need to be skied harder than a wood ski
Good things about wood
-lighter
-easier (generally) in bumps
-don't need to ski as hard
Down side to wood
-easier to make chatter
-not quite as stable at speed
-usualy not as edgy
All that being said I've skied both the P90 and the Flite they both ski well at reasonable speed on EC hard pack. I have heard the Flite called a lazy man's ski, so if you are a "low-intermediate" whatever that means, maybe you should look there. If you think you are going to ski faster and harder get the P90.
What other "wide" skis did you ski, because around I consider a prophet 90 an on-piste ski. I owned the P90 and sold it because I wanted something wider.
"Papa Muntz loved skiing, papa Muntz loved drinking, but what he loved most was drinking and skiing."
