Just picking up this thread from the beginning and realizing that a great man and father has been thrown yet another challenge to rip through.

Kick this in the ass, TC, the way you take every other long and winding road:

This is such a crappy situation. Everything I've seen and heard about TC describes him as being a very kind and generous maggot (not that you'd wish this situation on anyone). These latest developments (added financial hardships) just suck (as does the original injury).

I've been a part of this community (powmag, TGR, etc...) for over 11 years now. I think I've seen some of the best and worst we have to offer as a group. It seems as if you were to rate maggot karma TC would up near the top of that list. I would happy to contribute to a paypal account on his behalf. Please PM me info.

That said. I'm also a huge fan of Salomon. I've been skiing their boots and bindings exclusively for 15+ years. There's a reason maggots hoard their metal bindings. They make a lot of quality products. They brought us the first true park ski with the 1080. The first Fat Twin with the pocket rocket. Other than McConkey's reverse camber "rocker" and reverse sidecut brilliance, Salomon has been at the forefront of a lot of technology that made skiing better for us.

Roughly 3 years ago Salomon relocated their North American offices to my hometown. In the last 3 years I have had the opportunity to meet a lot US based Salomon employees. Many of which I now call friends. All of which are insanely passionate about our sport and all of which have a desire to improve it. Beyond gear development they support numerous charities and events locally, Jib Academies for kids, FreeSki TV, etc... they truly love skiing. Full Disclosure: I am sponsored by Salomon and I also do design work for their footwear lines (for the last 3 years).

I think the fact that this situation has gotten to this point is more a product of our legal system than any malicious intent on the part of Salomon. If a mistake was made then a mistake was made. They recalled the part in question. It certainly wasn't something malicious. I wish both sides could meet and talk without a lawyer, come to an agreement and shake hands, but neither side can trust the other these days. It sucks. Any verbal or written word is scrutinized by either sides attorneys and used to push numbers up and down. And in the end a lot of those numbers will go to the attorneys that created the game and not to the parties affected. I feel like both sides of this situation would be fair, but unfortunately more often than not that isn't the case and the game now exists the way it does. I wish things didn't take so long. This just sucks for TC. As mentioned earlier I'd be happy to contribute. I think a thread on the main forum to raise money is a good idea too. I like both parties involved. I don't like the situation. Tell me how I can help. I'll gladly offer up some gear for auction as well.

As usual, very well said and I fully agree. I have seen bad things happen to good people and it sucks. Anger and mob mentality(revenge) never help though. Prayers for a full recovery and speedy end to the legal maddness.

I don't know any of the players in this. But from the other end of the globe seems like TC is a good man and in good company with his East Coast gang. You can sense the spirit and it is good. It is 'acceptable' to get badly hurt skiing, but not the way TC did. Only a paid lawyer would argue otherwise. The legal system is apparently slow and in the meantime I have some small money for him if I can sort my PayPal situation.

MD9 - perhaps just reserve endorsement and support of Salomon's new backcountry range if you get the opportunity? Actually, do what ever you feel is right in your situation - no one should tell you what to.

    Thanks for the post dude.

It is indeed a shitty situation. I know for a fact that Solly has many passionate skiers and none of whom would ever want this to happen to anyone. This much we can be sure of.

It hard for me to catalyze in my mind how to feel. VERY hard. I know Solly has a great reputation and history espeically when it comes to bindings, skis and boots- pretty much the trifecta of skiing equipment. Then the Quest 12 PRO incident. Word cannot express how terrible of a situation it is... This could not have happened to a more stoked or awesome person, and the situation just gets more complicated every day- now he can't even work on his range of motion because he has to beat back the occification in his thigh with acid treatments. I mean WTF? How much more fucked could it get for a guy who just wanted to ski, and believed Solly when they said it was the burliest LT-compatible boot on the planet?

For me it is tough to swallow that while TC does his best to struggle towards some sense of normalcy, it's business as usual for the big ski company. A blip on the radar in a board meeting perhaps. If this is not the case, then where are the Solly employees (besides yourself of course) pitching in to say "This is terrible, here- it might not be a lot, but I want to make a donation to help Dalt/offer up some random item for auction etc. to show that we at Salomon care about what is happening and we aren't completely controlled by lawyers."

If Solly really gave a shit, they might even pick even ONE PAIR of skis/bindings/boots out of the 10 kajillion pairs they make a year to auction off to help TC in Ski/Snowboard... But no. We just have to play the lawyer game and make donations out of pocket to help the guy out in the meantime. If Solly is so passionate- which I really don't doubt in the least- where are they??? Every day they sit silently, the easier it is to equate them to a faceless, soulless corporation- which isn't fair to the army of good people over there either. I'd like to challenge someone at Solly to do SOEMTHING besides wait for lawyers- and for you (MD9) to have to be the one that does that rather than one of their PAID PR professionals is pretty fkn sad, but seriously- thank you.

I might be the first one to thin Salomon out of the quiver, but I'd also be ther first one to shake their hand if they'd cut the "we care and we're all broken up about this" crap and actually DO SOMETHING TO HELP THE GUY THEY ALMOST KILLED while the lawyers do their lawyer thing. I'm not going to pretend that accidents don't happen- or that there is ANY excuse for something like this to go down, but I have always felt that it's all in how you handle your fuckups. So far, I have not been impressed with Salomon's cookie-cutter lawyertastic responses, and have felt no emotion in anything they have said so far, because in my mind it falls short of being genuine simply because no action has accompanied their words.

Again, thank you for the olive branch. I hope the people at Salomon are reading this and thinking to themselves "Wow, it would be really easy to pull a pair of Rocker IIs of the shelf and auction them off to benefit the poor dude, and it would go a long way towards a)marketing their new boards, b)helping the guy they totally fucked without admitting fault or anything like that AND c) ease tension across the board on both sides.

Salomon should be following your lead and you're a good dude. Thank you.

$s sent. Does not looks like I will be up north until late November so paypal it is. Stay strong TC, there is a whole lot of people rooting for you.

PS: I am so sick of references to "mob mentality"... We are talking about one of us with a pile of bills high enough climb on and very uncertain future, let's keep things in perspective here.

Agreed. By labeling the effort to cajole some sort of accountability out of Salomon "mob mentality" is a weak fucking bullshit pedgeonholing of a very serious situation and assuming there'd be no emotional responses from anyone involved is both naive and unrealistic. I mean, this is TGR- we fist nuns without a courtesy lick at the drop of a hat and this situation, for as serious as it is, has remained rediculously civil. I've seen Poly/asshat discussions become more heated, so grow some fucking balls you raging pussies.

If anything, Solly's lack of a tangible response is far worse than those of TC's friends' emotional tirades IMHO.

I seem to also remember that TC contacted them about this when he got injured, and it's been Solly doing the lawyering-up instigation (could be wrong). All I know is that many years ago I got minorly injured in a company for EMS, and they took care of every medical bill without blinking. I did have to sign away my right to sue them, but that's understandable. Hooked me up with a ton of gear too.

This is the key statement and im sure one of the MAIN reasons this will move slowly. TC's lawyers want to maximize everything so taking payment for bills as they come in is not how this is going to work.

As has been said MANY times, this situation SUCKS BALLS, and we should all do whatever we can personally to help TC out, but don't for a minute think this isnt going to be years before its settled. Corporation lawyers BLOW....
