Just wanted to let everyone following this thread know that I put together a little T-shirt fundraiser for Dalt. When you get a second, please pick one up- it only takes a few clicks and it's pretty sweet! I can't wait for mine!

Been following this thread for some time.
Posting now to join the others to wish you well.
I hope your healing process is as speedy as it can be given the severity of your injuries.
You spirit and attitude are inspiring and I'm pulling for a recovery that will still allow you to pursue the things you love. I'm very sorry to read about Rex this morning, it's never a good time to loose a close friend, and as someone else posted feels like kicking a man when he's down. I have a lump in my throat as I type this, scratching my own bud behind the ears and consider how this would effect me.

    Hang in there brother!

Hmm... according to that notice the boots actually *were* sold (imagine that). They weren't "may have been sold" as Salomon's press release stated.

    TC how you holdin up?

Is anyone aware if Saloman's done anything resembnling restitution for this yet? TC have you talked to the CPSC yet? Seems you'd have a pretty strong case...

We've won it. It's going to get better now. You can sort of tell these things.

^^^^^ mentally holding up pretty well, definitely fustrating as hell to be on crutches for so long, another 2 months at least they said. Physically, the pain vacillates from unbearable to just an annoyance. The leg at this point will not bend at all, its like there is massive padlock on my joint. Knee looks like a watermelon. They say done with surgeries for now. And just started PT this past week. It seems the surgeons and PT all concur that this is the worst they have seen, so as I have said before, I can only go up from here. Doing pt myself everyday as well, to the point where I literally sweat from the pain. But determined to make at least one turn this season, even though I am told not a chance in hell.

I find it odd that Mountaingear is still selling these on their web-site, available for backorder. Under the circumstances, it's hard to understand.

fuck. yes. despite what the doctors say, it's good to hear from you that you plan on taking "one turn". don't give up, doc cleared me to do whatever i want last week, only about 11 weeks after my injury. unexpected to say the least.

Dude, you know what they say about problems. If you can't laugh at them, you got them.

Even if you only laugh at them for a few minutes every day.

    Wishing you strength.

    Hey guys,

So we have a couple of updates regarding the Salomon Quest Pro Bebax, Quest Pro and Quest touring pads. Since there is an ongoing case with Dalton, we can't comment about the situation or outcome for legal reasons, but can give updates regarding the product.

Since the accident, we have been doing a great deal of investigating and tests to try new alternative solutions and new pad designs. Thus far, with no existing norm, we are not able to provide a 100% reliable solution for our boots/soles for low-tech style bindings. At this point, we will not be releasing any low-tech touring boots/soles this fall. The rest of the Quest boots, which passed norms, will still be available. If you have any questions, feel free to give me a call, Nick at 801-624-7581 for any additional questions.

Thanks for all of your patience guys,
    Nick

The Backcountry mag that just arrived (p. 26) has a reasonable summary (even if the "editors" still haven't mastered basic grammar & proofreading), although Powder mag (p. 109) is rather brief & vague.

So if there was a "norm" you would have made them out of something stronger... tissue paper and spit maybe?

"translated as".....we decided to cut corners so we might be able to sell more boots...we couldve just paid Dynafit the money for their inserts but this way was easier and cheaper for us. Since we STILL dont want to make the boot work with low tech fittings we'll just not give that as an option on the boot.

Thank you for your time and sorry you're basically fucked for life D...

    Sincerely,

    Salomon.

FUCK YOU, I don't give a shit about your "Product Updates"

I want you to pony up the $$ to fix Dalton's Knee

Me too, but the problem is that no amount of $$$ can buy that back.

I for one would just like to hear WHO was in charge of the Quest project, WHY the parts that failed in testing were never corrected before going to production and WHERE the person/people responsible are now- as in- are they still with the company? How high up did this decision come from? I literally want to know exactly who knew they broke in testing and decided to do nothing about it. I'd like to send that person a letter, for real.

Nick, can you tell us who the project manager for the Quest was? This seems like pretty standard, non-legally-compromising staffing information to share.

The worst part about it is that anyone who will be communicating with us about the progress undoubtedly had NO DIRECT INVOLVEMENT in the actual problem. The people who screwed the pooch will never be allowed to tell us what really happened and exactly who gave the order to put out a clearly defective product that had failed in testing, then lie to us about how many there were/whether or not they were proto boots, etc. In the dealings with Salomon up to this point, they've pretty much been sneaky, lying, lazy penny-grabbers and were only truthful with us after we already figured out the truth for ourselves. The guy "Nick" whose job it is to communicate with us probably never even saw the boot. It is for these reasons that I will NEVER own a Salomon product. Ever. If I were to win a free pair of Salomon skis, I'd auction them off and donate the proceeds to D, or spend the $$$ on a "fuck Salomon" campaign from one end of the internets to the other, ensuring every skiing man, woman and child knows that Salomon is willing to put out a product that they not only know is dangerous and of insufficient quality, but will be used in some of the most inhospitable and dangerous places imaginable.

Salomon, you fuckers make me sick. Too bad this didn't happen to one of your sponsored athletes (not that I would really ever wish that), maybe then it would get the international attention it really deserves.

Unfortunately im betting that the likely retort from Salomon to Daltons lawyers will be that the product was being used in a manner in which it was not designed. Seems a typical defense. They'll claim he was a huge dude riding on "low tech" binders in less than optimal conditions.

    WHICH IS TOTAL BULLSHIT......

The insert was cheap and designed way beyond poorly. I still can't imagine how this made it out of testing? Most of the "tests" must've been meadow skipping in uber soft deep snow. Those inserts bent like a paper clip.

I hope Daltons law team sticks it to Sallie and doesnt settle....

Heal up Dalton...we're all thinking about you.

Just fix it Salomon...its not going to put you out of business, but a community like this could do some serious damage if nothing is done or you "lawyerspeak" your way out of it IMHO...so lets hear a happy end to this aight?
