One day at a time, TC.
Thanks WD, I am in just ferocious pain, worst since this whole thing happened. I can only imagine it getting better. The reality is, as the surgeries cycle through so will all the pain and discomfort from each one. Its not just one big surgery, but rather multiple ones that each carry their own risks and associated affects. Pretty rough going right now. But at least I am working towards a goal now and have a little clearer picture of what may come. Although it was indelibly noted by the surgeon that this injury will be with me the rest of my live and require constant maintenance through surgery. Of course my intention is too make that not a reality.
Thanks for all the support again

Stay strong brother, at least pain is one thing the mind can't remember afterwards. Every day is a step forward even if it doesn't feel it.
Ferocious...... Damn D, I will be up there as soon as possible- this weekend I'm heading to the Rolex GT series at Limerock Park but the following weekend I'll be up to hang in Middlebury and bring a truckload of ferocious awesomeness and crazy good vibes with me. I wish there was something I could do... Pullin for ya dood. Just call if you need anything, not a day goes by that I don't think about ya and hope for the best for you.
To hear that this will be with you forever is probably no suprise at this point but shitty nonetheless. I hope the QA/QC douche at Salomon that oversaw the Quest is reading this right now, feeling like a total shitbag. Makes me want to harvest his leg/knee parts with a whippet to fix yours![]()

Sounds rough. Keep telling yourself that medical techniques are improving all the time, and so will your leg. How are you passing the time? Need movies (skiing or... uh, regular)? Books? Any requests for food from the city? Ever try lard bread? It's basically bread with little chunks of bacon inside. Or Korean fried chicken? It blows my mind. I'm hoping to be heading towards mountains soon, and I'd be happy to swing by with what meager distractions I can offer.

Here's a story:
Mick Doohan is a former motorcycle racer who early in his career had a badly broken right leg. His body cut off the blood supply to the bones that were broken and the doctors told him he was going to lose the leg. He found a doctor with an idea... they sewed his left leg onto his right leg and re-routed some of the blood supply from the left leg to the right. He laid on his back with his legs sewn together for 3 months. The bones were saved.
He returned to racing and won 5 world Grand Prix 500 championships.
You probably won't get a full recovery, but I really believe you'll recover enough for some more runs on Mt. Washington.
^^
Oh yeah, forgot about that one, and my brother even has the Doohan edition Arai helmet. Miracles happen all the time, that story is no exception!
Thats a great story thanks, I have received lots of inspiring ones. I guess this will become another experience to tell to others. I manage 31 years with no broken bones then I go and celebrate it in this past year with some real nice ones. I know I will be up and skiing, biking, fishing etc. again, the next couple years getting there will be interesting thats for sure. Until then I keep having that first verse of "Band on the Run" revolving in my head, "stuck inside these 4 walls...sent inside forever" You do shit like that when your all smacked up on dilauded and morphine solf sitting in the same room all day
ISBD- If your heading up let me know, you are welcome here anytime.
Eug- I hope that when I come back I can keep up with your son.![]()
TC, maybe in a couple weeks you'll feel sharp enough to do some reading. What can we send you for light reading? Lee Child? Robert Parker?
WD- Chaucer? Derrida? I dunno I am all over the place. I have actually been reading Van Tharpe lately. But seriously no need for books at all. You have done enough. My father has a great book recently published and currently being made into a movie. We will see. Its on Amazon and called "Running Naked". Absolutely funniest and quickest read I have ever had. Friends have all said the same. Sorry for the plugging/spam![]()
you can actually read on all those drugs? i was knocked out for 3 months on probably the same amount of opiates as you and i couldnt read anything longer then a page without forgetting what i read the last page.
what helped me the most? discovery/science channel (esp. How Its Made), and xbox.
get well soon!
With all the drugs and pain you are experiencing, you should get yourself a guitar and write some kickass music.
Do you want a guitar?

Thanks Hop for the offer, I do not play. But have friends and a father who play avidly and write. I would like to learn, always have. But no need to send me a guitar. I can get Wii and really feel like a hero. Thanks for the thought though.
Hang on TC. Better days are ahead.
Thanks WD.... My dog and best bud of 17 years passed on friday, so it has been more then tough for me the last few days. Had him since 6 weeks old, best friend I could ask for. RIP REX, I miss your stinky breath dood.
My two best buds together

my condolences TC, it must feel like your being tested by god right now. it sucks that we have to lose them so soon. stay tough Big D, try cranking a Lost Sailor>Saint Of Circumstance. It works when i'm in the barrel. later dude.
Sorry for your loss man. It can't be easy with all you are going through but I get the impression you are the type of person who can handle anything that gets thrown at them. As the past has shown. Heal up and hopefully in time I will get a chance to buy you a beverage after some future mini.

A woman reported to police at 6:30 p.m. that she was being "smart-mouthed."
Hang tough Buddy, I am glad to have hung with Rex and know his memory will always be with you.

Sorry to hear about Rex, my condolences TC. He was an awesome road trip pup, and a great companion on road trips. I'm glad I got to hang out with him in the back of the truck on a few ski trips. RIP REX, you will be missed!
Damn TC...sorry for your loss.im sure you had many many good times/years with Rex.
You are being tested right now...though i dont know you personally, i can see you'll pull through this ever stronger. Try to concentrate on getting well. You'll be back before you know it, and i have a feeling you'll do something "big".
Keep your chin up man.
Dalt, sorry about your pooch. Talk about kicking a man when he's down.
Aw, man... I'm sorry to hear that, brotha. Rex will be sadly missed by all, I'll always remember how stoked he was to stomp around in the pow on the dumper days and would come back in the house looking like a polar bear. Great friend indeed! Hang in there man, I should be able to stop up this weekend after Magic with a truckload of good vibes. Let me know if you need anything.
Love that pic of you and him at the top of Magician. Great photo.
