    VIO POS and video conversion

So I've been using a VIO 1 for about 10 months now. I totally bypassed the management software provided and went straight for a converter to edit the software on my Mac. Using DivX to convert the video so it'll work in Final Cut Express. Followed the directions on the vio website for Mac use. Pretty sure I got the perian plugin.

The video looks like crap. Always does. I am shooting in flat light on occasion, but even in good visibility, the video looks pretty poor. I know the VIO isn't a world class recorder, but I figured I should be able to at least get relatively good video.

Shooting in 720X480, High, 30fpm, etc.
I don't have the exposure upgrade. I had it, got a faulty gasket in the lens and had to return the kit. F'ed up and didn't save the upgrade file. Didn't feel like paying another 10 bucks. But it can't just be that gimmicky exposure control. I ought to be able to fix that in post-editing.

Download MPEG Streamclip http://www.squared5.com/ and convert your files straight off the camera or your hard drive to quicktimes before bringing them in FCP. Made my video way less jumpy/glitchy.

Edit: I made this last week and it was almost unwatchable at 2:04 from glitches:

As you can see MPEG Streamclip cleaned everything up. Also worth noting is that if you're using a new version of FCP that will do your sequence settings for you POV1 footage might come in as PAL or 23.98 even if you shoot in 29.97.
