the start of my crappy thoughts at 1 AM.
EDIT: Be glad to face off, just after Nov. 2, as I'm a campaign bitch until the third.

I will definately make it up for Monday, 2/28. Work won't let me get away any other days. I have some good hookups in Stowe groups sales. I will see them this week and get some rates. I can probably get better rates than standard group rates. We are aware that this is the tail end of presidents week and will probably be very busy?

Things aren't clear for me yet, that weekend is also Empire State Games, I've already got the time off its just a matter of getting to Stowe rather then Placid.

However, if I can make it to stowe, I could possibly drive any of the Capital district area maggots a ride

Yikes! I was unaware of that last point. I'll defer to people's experience on whether we should change the dates.

As for the rest of your post: sounds super sweet.

It is definately not as busy as the first weekend but a lot of NJ/NY/CT schools get off that week so they spend the entire week skiing. Most ski areas, stowe included, still consider the following weekend a holiday time frame. I haven't been to Stowe on a weekend in ~10 years, but I can safely say that in Southern VT the second weekend of Presidents week is still VERY busy.

Just checking the school calendar and the kiddies have the 19th through the 28th off. I would think that that would make it VERY crowded since most folks are going to head up sometime after school on the 18th and stay until the 27th when the kids are going to go back to school

hmm. well i guess we could try and get people on board for another weekend, or we can suck it up. i'm pretty sure stowe is not going to be more crowded than most of the larger spots peope
    were considering.

my guess is that since HOPEFULLY we'll have some snow that the majority of maggots won't be on the trails playing gaper pinball. As long as we can lock in a group rate price isn't an issue(I hope). It's been my expirence that northern places like Whiteface/MRG/Sugarbush don't get AS hammered as places like K mart Okemo and Mt Snow

My vote would be to keep it on the dates we have now

That blows. I had no idea the masses had the whole damn week off. If we're gonna sack up, then fine. We'll deal with "whatever". I wouldn't have an issue moving it to the following weekend, though. (Isn't there typically a big price break on EVERYTHING after 3/1?) Just a thought.. The 4th to the 7th sounds ok to me, but I wouldn't want to push it any further than that..Last March had a couple dumps the first 2wks of the month in Northern ME/NH/VT and within 2 days (the weekend I finally got there), it all turned to shit. Mid 60's. March kinda frightens me.

You're kidding right?....Not at Stowe, there are no price breaks there what so ever.

March can be fickle but if you hit it right it is SWEET. Skied hip deep on 3/24 last year on a hike to the backside of Spruce in the Notch.

This is my first post on the Teton board. I've been on the Powder board for years but i thought i'd check this one out as well. I'm down for this summit. I can stay with my buddy who lives above Pinnacle ski shop. Although still a ways off, i'm a college student so i don't really have too many commitments. I'd definately drop many things to head to Stowe for an EC summit. So yeah count me in......

    Half-assed update is here:

    http://www.geocities.com/thinksnow47/ecsummit

Nothing new really, just a few more people added and the question as to what to do about Pres. week. Hold fast or push back a week? How many people would have a change of status? I hate to make new polls but...

Yeah, him and hardrider threw me for a loop. Hardrider's been explained, but Ski Beaver? Perhaps he stumbled into the wrong poll...

Yeah i'll bring a few guys up from Hamilton where i attend. I'm Raps over on the Powder board as well. I've only got 200+ posts over there, so i'm not one of the more famous veterans over there. I'm impressed by the numbers of people on this board though. I feel like a lot of people have migrated over here.
I'm in for any weekend but i agree with what has been said. As long as we pick a non holiday weekend and don't go too far into the season i think it will work out. Instead of pushing it back, why not make it earlier?
