Offical Thread: EC Mini Summit 04-05 (disregard previous posts)

    2004-2005 East Coast Mini Summit

    Where: Stowe, VT

When: Friday March 4 - Monday March 7

Who: The Poll above displays everyones name and their level of commitment

After a head count the next order of buisness is Group Lodging/Ski deals and a Summit party. I am willing to help as much as I can, EPSki has also agreed to do what he can, but locals are needed Vinman? Basom? MildBill? Anyone?

    There we have it.

We have dates, we have locations.
We have offers to start research on deals / discounts / hookups.
We have someone (Gin) to start condensing all the BS.
Let's do him a favor & not create any more....

i will also lend a hand. i'll try and scout out the best place for the apres hookers and blow party. i'll be at stowe a lot this season, i'll see what i can work out once i'm there on a regular basis.
i have some DJ friends who kill it down here in the bean, i'll see if i can convince them to take a roadtrip. although if you guys don't like hip hop that might not work out so well. anyways i'll try and do a better job than i did on my sock drawer.

alright, I'm down for most likely, the only reason I wouldent go would be purely money. I have alot of other stuff planned already, but its not to far away so all i really need is my car and my winter bag, plus lift tickets.

Even if you can only make it one day...you still gotta show!

My kid is in the Killington Hopefuls thing on Sat. so I can't go that day. But I will show for Sunday, even if we have to send him home w/ my cousin or something. I will work it out. And I'm liking the idea of extending to Monday. Save your sick days folks!

I posted it on the other thread, but will post the following questions here since this is the "official" one:

    1. How long does it take to drive to Stowe from Killington and is it reasonable to drive there from Killington in the morning?

    2. What kind of lodging options are there in Stowe? I suspect stuff around the resort is expensive, but are there any basic cheap motels people can crash at?

And as I have mentioned, I think if you possibly can...you should try to get up to K for opening day. It would be cool if a bunch of us can meet up apres ski and talk in person. :

Kmart to Stowe is probably around an hour and a half. You can either go up 100 (scenic rural highway) or up 89 (better in bad weather) A good place to stay around stowe is at the Best western in Waterbury. Rooms are around 90 dollars a night (they were last season when my sister visited) But, the hotel is about 20-25 minutes from the mountain and a ways away from Stowe nightlife.

As far as lodging, the Sunset Hotel in Morrisville is pretty good. 802-888-4956.

It is about 20-25 minutes from the Stowe parking lot.

    Name?

    Edit:Stowe-Bound Lodge - (802) 253-4515: $20, shared bath, no meals
(breakfast often available at additional fee). For $30 you get a private
    bath and breakfast.

this place sounds kinda cool, if we can get some people together maybe we can ask about renting it out, its a B&B/Hostel. However we would probably need a solid 25 people to make it economically feasible

Sweet. Nice job guys. Seems we have a pretty good headcount in the fo sure crowd so far. Feel free to pm me some details such as where you're coming from, what sort of lodging situation you have/want/can offer and anything else that might be relavant. I'll put up a simple website to help coordinate in the coming weeks.

Anyhow, I put myself down for 100% so I will be there barring some apocaplytic event.

Not a bad start, but make sure you let people know that it is actuly going to happen. I know there are more of us east coasters out there, all you PA, NJ, MD, DC, mags need to try to make it up this year. If we can get one good year under our belt it will be much easier to do in years to come.

I guess I am a waffler for now. The problem is classes are hard to plan around sometimes. I will consider it, but it all depends on money and tests.

this is true, I will have the same problem, but it shouldent be to hard to work around, if its a friday test I just leave after the class. Chances are I wont have a monday test, all my monday classes will be Mon. wed. fri. so wed, and friday tests are much more comman, at anyrate that shit can be worked out, you can just say someone died or somthing, just make it look like you hade a really long, weekend, and look emotional

Edit: where are you going to school?

As an additional thought, a local should look into the stone hut. It is most likely rented out, but sleeps twelve and is on top of the quad. If we can get it, it would make an ideal place for several mags to crash.

Edit: Never mind, dates are given out by lottery, so getting that weekend is probably next to impossible.

Eh... what the hell. The first time I met some of you goons for wings in nyc I survived the incident without molestation or a bad hangover, so I'll give it a second shot.

    Talking

Just as a side note, I think we should go ahead, stop belittling ourselves, and just call it the "EC Summit." No more of this "mini" business. Calling it a "Summit" makes it seem more important, you know, like you'll be missing out if you don't go.

I suck at the internet and webpage design and whatnot. Having said that, with the help of Excel, I was able to throw this into cyberspace:

    http://www.geocities.com/thinksnow47/ecsummit.htm

All likely attendees are there along with anything pertinent I was able to collect. PM me to add or subtract any info.

I can't offer to organize much, but I can act as coordinator. If we're going to look into any group deals I think we should have one person step up and make the calls. If not, I can just list any single lodging and/or ticket deals that folks know about.

    I can't resist:

Sick and ashamed and happy (and everyone is special),

Gin, well done on the web site, its a good start.

11 for sure and another 9 most likely. Not bad for a start and 20 qualifies us for a group ticket rate.

    http://www.stowegroups.com/groups/index.html

Not sure exactly what kind of a deal that would turn out to be. I've emailed them to find out. I alos asked them to quote some prices on condos just to find out what they are offering.

I also might have a line on a house that a group of you/us could rent that would fit 8-10. Kind of a friend of a friend is going to check on price for me. No promises on this though.

Gin: add me to the barring anything else I'll be there list.

I haven't checked dates, but if I have that week off for school, then I might be in UT/CO - not sure.

Anyways, I'll try to get up there and maybe get a college ticket of some kind if Stowe is kind enough to provide. You have a Jay pass this year? I'll be vagabonding between Sunapee local, Mt. Washington BC, and VT (north for snow, KMart or Magicish if free/cheap tickets appear)
