Wait a sec - Shawn White has a halfpipe that can only be accessed by heli?

Then how the fuck did they get the machine up there to make it?

Is the TV man telling me lies again?

Wouldn't you need a big ass cat with a gigantic pipe-shaping attachment (tiller?) on it?

No way you're flying that motherfucker up there.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they drove the machine out there? AFAIK those machines are designed to run on snow.

My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar.

Big deal. Only a half pipe? I have a full pipe in my yard. Next winter, I'm going to a double pipe.

I was bored so I looked it up. A prinoth beast weighs around 24,000 pounds. I think the heaviest lift helicopter we have in the US is the S-64E with a max hook weight of 20,000 pounds. Not sure what a cat with a pipe dragon weighs in at. Maybe take the tracks, blade and other accessories off to lighten it up.

You could get a Mi-6 or Mi-26 to lift it, but I don't think you can fly them in the US.

Either way, I'm guessing they drove the snow cat over.....snow.

Or the fact it was on 60 Minutes and on a 1 hour NBC special.

A lift and a short hike can get you there also.

It's been a while since I looked at the site but there was some video showing how they made the pipe, the foam pit and how they dragged the foam pit to the pipe

NBC lies again. For those that have been to Silverton, there's a nice cat track leading out of Velocity Basin to a county road at Silverton.

Exactly. I seem to remember seeing a cat and/or sleds parked by the pipe. It's a simple jaunt up the road.

you have to give Red Bull credit, they do nothing halfway, using the money that all the doofuses spend on their horse pis tasting drink to do the following:
-turn Lindsay Vonn into a machine
-build the flying tomato his own pipe just outside a resort
    -the air races
    -rampage
-restore vintage fighter aircraft (the coolest thing in my book)
    etc.

If I had a dollar for every time capitalism was blamed for problems caused by the government I'd be a rich fat film maker in a baseball hat.

Here's what I don't get: How can that redheaded little freak look around at all that terrain and get amped about riding... a halfpipe?

To each his own, I guess. And damn did he go big last night. No one else was even close.

Because riding a halfpipe earned him $10,000,000.00 last year?
