    Chicken soup question...

I'm gonna make some chicken soup tonight...YUM! Normally I make it with fresh chicken but I bought a bunch on sale and froze it. Probably a real stupid question but, can I just start boiling the frozen chix or do I need to thaw it first?

thaw for best results, could be rather rubbery otherwise

yup. I'd even do lukewarm water since it's going to be boiled within minutes of thawing.

If you're gonna make really good chicken soup, you need bones and fatty cuts like thighs, with skin on - hopefully you don't just have boneless skinless breasts. You gotta simmer all of that and then take the bones out right before you eat it, the marrow will come out of the bones and give you the flavor. If you're looking for a shortcut way to accomplish this next time, get one of those cooked whole chickens by the front at Safeway and cut the whole bird up into a few pieces, and put the whole thing in your soup. Add all the other stuff, simmer for a few hours, and then pick the bones out.
