Sorry guys, I am sure Marshal/DPS will be able to chime in here with more able information, but I do know that DPS this year has been swamped with orders. Of course this shouldn't impact all of you here (and elsewhere) that threw down the deposit and the pre-order quite a few months ago. Hang tight. This will be taken care of.

Sorry if it's been covered already.

    How does the 190 hybrid ski/compare to a 188 un-super 7.

My roomate and I spent a little while comparing the camber/rocker/shape of his 190cm f2 hybrid and my 188cm s7. The contact points are almost identical, except the RP has a longer and more rockered shovel. From looking at it the tip profiles I'd say the RP will plane better than the s7, which can sometimes plow a little in super deep snow. I think the extra width in the tail of the RP will let it finish turns better and not wash out on hardpack quite as much as the s7. The RP is stiffer through the tip, forebody, and end of the tail, but felt equally sturdy underfoot. Between the shape and flex of the tail, and sidewalls, I think the RP will kill the s7 on hardpack and cruddier snow.

So DPS has shipped the skis to stores but not to customers who pre-ordered?!

I really hope this store placed their order before the 28th of march when I placed mine.

One would think that some of the DPS-dudes would come in here to comment, say what they will do to make this up to us or at least give a proper explanation but there seems to be none of that...

As it seems right now I'll have to be happy if I get my skis before the end of the season as there is no guarantee that they will ship in December.

Seems a few people have this issue, Marshall can post on it to provide insight for all, rather than PM's or eamils. or people can PM like I did. I would not call paying up front, having delays and limitied customer service moaning.

But I'm in customer service so what do I know, oh I have a customer at the drive through, gotta go, you want to supersize that order?

The customer is not always right, but they keep the lights on.
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

We want to offer our sincere apologies for the delayed deliveries on certain models, and any inconvenience it may have caused to this point. We know it sucks to hear a certain date and then have it pushed back.

We made a big push to get ahead of the game this year, but despite our best efforts, and for a number of frustrating extraneous manufacturing factors, we have slipped behind on some models.

Specifically addressing the Hybrid RP's that haven't shipped yet, (which seems to be the skis ordered above)- We have an extremely tight QC standard, and 20% of the first run didn't make it to A grade, so we were left 20% short on the first run, and are now cycling back to get that shortfall produced.

The Bent Gate received their skis according to their order date - Feb 18, 2010. We ship all skis in the sequence of orders received and based on the availability of the ski.

Production and deliveries continue at full blast, and we have worked hard to increase capacity and bandwidth significantly to push dates up. As it stands now, there is a constant stream of skis being delivered every single day. We are forecasting that of the remaining preorder skis that haven't shipped so far, 85% of those will be shipped in November (according to the dates posted above), so hopefully the delays don't rip into peoples' season or early planned trips. However, If the wait is too much, we will happily offer a full refund on your deposit.

The remaining 15%, which constitute the more exotic lengths/flexes, will ship before December 15th.

Again we sincerely apologize to those who don't have their skis yet.

Over the next few days, we will be personally calling everyone who has an open, unshipped order that will be going out after Nov 10th to give them an order specific status update. So, talk to you who are still waiting for skis soon.

Here's to a super deep winter, and thanks for the ongoing patience and support.

I finally had a chance to ski the 190 pure 112 last WE, albeit only on groomed (some icy section included). The ski test menu of the day included also some hybrid 105 (I am very familiar with the pure 105), stockli stormrider DP pro and K2 hardside.
The 112 carved and slashed like the miracle drug. I was totally satisfied, even better than with 105. For what I remember of the S7, the torsion control of the 112 was much better. Also, I felt the amount of positive camber of the 112 was lower than that of S7 (not viz-a-viz comparison, sorry), and this would be a very good thing for my way of skiing.
Finally, I always thought a 190 112 would have been too much for most EU resort skiing for people <180 cm. I was probably wrong, the 190 turned on a 1euro cent. But of course only time will tell.
Now, if DPS delivers on time, I'd like to try a full winter season on a single ski (skinning >1000 m excluded). It would be a very interesting experiment for one accustomed to a large quiver...

my post probably came out the wrong way - my point was that if you want to complain, it's best to do it directly to the person who has caused you the problem rather than posting about it on the internet

V61 - i am still recovering from the shock of the idea of you doing a season on one pair of skis

Ok, it's really nice to hear positive experiences about 112 on the groomers, because I have the same idea going on as Verbier61 - except I'm going to mount tele bindings on these sticks... The idea is to ride the whole winter with only one pair of skis, including frozen (Finnish) groomers and (hopefully) deep days on the Alps for few weeks.

Hope to receive my preordered pair of 190 hybrid's some time soon...?

I have tried complaining to the source, but still no response. That is why I needed to whine publicly.

    DPS,Hybrid 190,112 RP Review
    Me 220lbs
    6'3"
    51 years
Average skier, only do small drops ( bad knee injury a few years back)
    Skis owned but didn’t like 188 S7, 184 Mantra
Skis still own & like 196 Lhasa Pow carbon, 191 Movement Goliath
Conditions, near end of season spring snow, 10 to 15 cm cm fell over the previous few days & was wind blown around.
Skis mounted with small Dukes on the line , 108mm behind CRS, Running surface measured as 105cm.
Boots Lange Super Blasters with intuitions

I wasn’t sure if these would turn up in time for me to ski them , time was running out. I took delivery on Friday , mounted the Dukes & skied them Saturday & Sunday.

There was some pow , wind buff & some crud a little later. As far as skiing the pow, I got this stupid grin on my face & it stayed until I started hitting the sticky crap later on. Slarve & carve all good & no hooking.
In the crud great pop from turn to turn but they also mange to smooth out the rough ( must be the bamboo/carbon build ) . The big tips just glided over , around & through everything I came across. Very happy with this as the S7s I had never dealt with the crud that well.
The only negative a little catching of the tips on the cat tracks, I didn’t have a stone with me so I detuned them that evening.

Sunday a bit of refreeze overnight , no new snow. So it was groomers until things softened up , these skis can perform solid slalom turns better than anything else I’ve been on. Back into the offpiste & a bit of skinning , they weigh in about the same as my Lhasa Pow carbons 196. They give up a little traction on the firmer snow, but my skins were not cut for these skis . Ok for slack country stuff.
Flex is a little softer overall than the Lhasa Pows , but compared to my older Lhasa’s ( I broke one) the RP is a bit stiffer in the tip.
Stability at speed is much better than the S7 , not quite as stable as the Lhasa, big difference in turn radius.

    Overall well done DPS. .
Bottom line these skis make you want to ski more challenging terrain, which is a good thing.
