    Review: K2 Obsethed

Specs: 169 (unfortunantly all they had for demos was a 169) 138-105-125 Slight rocker and regular camber underfoot.

Conditions: Ice, hardpack, hard moguls, and more hardpack

I have wanted to try these skis for a little while and was able to demo them for a couple runs yesterday. Unfortunately all they had was a 169 and the conditions were poor.

I normaly ski 08 scratches for hard snow, and I tried the Line SFBs same day.

Groomers: Very comfortable on the groomers. While it took a run or so to get the feel of the bacons on the groomers, the obsethed felt right at home. They held an edge well (much better than my scratches) and felt in control at all speeds. The slight rocker in the tip did not flap much if any no matter the speed, or at least I didnt notice it any.

Moguls: Despite the hard/icy conditions of the moguls, these skis killed it in them. Definantly more comfortable than the bacons and always held an edge, no sliding around in a turn. Very controlale. I was plesantly surprised by there mogul performance after coming from the bacons.

Drops/straightlines: I did not hit any big drops due to the conditions, but the obsethed stomped everything I threw at them with ease despite their short length. Despite the hard bumpy runouts, they felt in control at all times and stable at speed. I did a small straightline with an icy/bumpy runout and the obsetheds took it like a champ.

Soft snow/crud: Unfortunately, there was very little soft snow but the few pockets of soft/crud I hit were enough to make me want to try these in soft. Feel very stable and fell like they would have good float.

Bottom Line: I would very much like to try these in a larger size. The 169 felt like a great ski and I am sure the 189s would ski even better. This would make a great one ski quiver. Definantly better than the SFBs I tried the same day, more versitle for the conditions.

    What's your height and weight?

Switching from a 169 to 189 is a pretty significant difference.
