    Packed out snowboard boot tips?

So I've got some Burton Ion Snowboard boots, they fitted perfectly. I've done about 80 days riding over the last two years and now they are getting a bit loose. My foot slides forward and back a bit and i have to do them up tight to stop this. This usually results in foot pain. If i don't i feel off balance.

Was hoping to get at least another season from them if not more as they aren't wearing at all.

Anybody got any tips to fix this? Already wearing as warmer socks as i'm willing too. Was thinking there might be some kind of insole you can get for the liner?

Foot transplant. Just be sure to double check that those snazzy new kicks of yours fit the boot, it'd be shame to have to chop your feet off twice. Or new liners...

sounds more like the boots never fit you correctly in the first place... Maybe try replacing the footbeds with something more custom to fit your feet or simple Superfeet insoles.

95% of snowboard boots are junk. Basically if you don't have burton divers or a select few other models, your boots will pack out at least a full size and there is nothing to do but get new boots. Only advice is to try intuitions, get new boots, or switch to skiing like I did.

A couple seasons ago I was able to order new Imprint 4 liners for about $40 from Burton. As mentioned, another option is new footbeds with better arch support.

The Ion is far from a junk boot........actually the exact opposite. I love the Ion and I'm on my 3rd pair. The downfall to the boot in my mind is that its life span is really only 50 days or so. Personally i would try a add another foot bed. An intution liner is a good choice also but a pricey one and at that point I'd hunt for a left over Ion or this seasons on deal.

This thread does belong in tech talk but I hope this helps.

I had the Ion HDs and they got downright floppy at 100 days. The liner was totally packed and the shell soft. I milked another season out of them and it was a big mistake. That "foot pain" you complain of matured into a painful 18 month case of achilles tendonitis in my left ankle. Lesson learned; I would have gladly dropped the price of a new pair of boots just to make the persistent burning in my heel stop. Now, I ride the extra-stiff Drivers (I like Burton boots, if nothing else) and the tendon healed up fine.

Thanks for the help, will see what i can sort out. I did have a half size smaller last pair which i thought fitted great until i got some toe damage so these probably are the right size. Will probably try a different brand next time to get a better fit and maybe a more durable liner.

TECH TALK, got it, thanks for the heads up, i did look for something like this but must've missed it

In my mind, a lifespan of 50 days equals junk.

then your mind is small. A certain level of comfort is unattainable in a boot that won't pack out after 50 days. I use Burton hails and they are pretty much toast around 50 days, but they are perfect out of the box, and pop up on sac all the time. A lot of boots require a break in period so the first 20 days your feet hurt. Fuck that. Only being able to get 50 days out of them is a small price to pay for the most comfortable boot I have worn in 20 years of riding.

    TECH TALK btw......
