Doesn't seem to be enough traffic for a SouthEast thread so poaching this one. I did my first tracks at Appalachian today. Surprisingly firm for being a little above freezing. Good surface for the race they had there. Always have fun there but never stay more than a few hours. Hard Core wasn't open but most of the rest of it had really good coverage.

Nice! I learnt to ski at Appalachian. I took skiing as a PE credit at apostate. Best decision of my life, and rhe worst for the fair people of WA. Many find memories there. I was super lucky the year I took the class it snowed 90-100 inches at the resort (cant find the stats for the season) - Boone got over 60 inches aswell. I even did some "back
backcountry" skiing up on Howard's Nob after it dumped 3 to 4 feet of snow up there.

I'd like to go back and ski at Sugar and check out Beech, but dont see myself doing so besides to bring my kids to NC to show where they are from down the road.

Sunday Dec 15th is WV ski free day at Snowshoe.

Sugar cut a really nice new trail down from the top of Switchback skiers left to the top of Easy Street. It's steeper than Upper Flying Mile and longer than Whoopdeedoo. Best trail in NC and similar to Highlands at Wintergreen.

Well, god fucking damn it, they booked the scout troop trip MLK weekend this year. We already had lower level corner seats to the Hurricanes game Sunday afternoon so looks like we'll only be skiing Saturday that weekend instead of both Saturday and Sunday.. Although, a day trip to a closer venue Monday would also be doable most likely.

Thank goodness! Arrived at Wintergreen on Sunday to two icy ribbons of death that were already packed by 10 AM. We left after less than two hours, marking my shortest ski day ever. It's nuts how much snow they can put down with some cold. Less than a week later, and more than half of the mountain is open again.

I skied CVR on Wednesday and The Shoe on Thursday.

SS is killing it even in a worse than usual bad snow year(so far).

It was good packed powder very carvable and a good time. Plenty of trails open although they are not 100%.

They dropped the chairs off the Leitner lift. Its coming down soon.

You can buy a chair if you want for $250. Nice way to support them.

It's no Vader chair, but I could go for a Thunderdraft triple seat to hang below my deck in Hyak. I always loved TLine and I'm grateful to have had it in my backyard as a kid growing-up

They picked a good year to undergo new ownership and temporary closure for the renovations. Those pictures in the chairlift gallery show absolutely no snow on the ground and it's the first week of February. Yikes.

Its the worst snow year of the last 4 years of low tide winters.

We are getting dribs and drabs then warm ups and rain.

Its good to see positive things happening over there.

I'm in MD. This winter has been so blah that today is the first time I logged onto TGR this entire winter. Meanwhile the Front Range is looking at 30"-50" over the next 2-3 days. It appears Ullr has forsaken us.

Timberline has the new mid-mountain quad lift up according to its FB. It's been a couple years since I've been there, so can't really recall where this one would be. They don't have a trail map up yet either. There are some great improvements there for the coming season. Seems like they may be able to justify an $85 lift ticket with the new shine on the place.

New trail map out for Timberline. Aside from the new lifts, not a whole lot changed. Should be a good year with the improved infrastructure.
