I opened up a Russel’s 10 yr at work today. I cannot find anything to criticize about it. Just a near perfect traditional old school whiskey. 10/10

Came across this today in my LLS. Without comparing it to earlier bottlings I’ll just say it’s really fucking good.

Agreed. It's a good one that should be included in your rye quiver for the cold winter ahead.

In the meantime, with the limited selection of bourbon at the LLS, I've been drinking a lot of MM French Oaked # 46 lately. Tasty and the price is right.

Went to a Christmas party tonight. The host broke out a bottle of Stagg Jr. 132 proof. I can honestly say that it is the finest bourbon that I have ever tasted.

Huh I have Stagg Jr and love it but it's never been an all time favorite. Have you had Larceny barrel proof or Elijah Craig BiB? If you're a fan of Stagg Jr I feel like those would be up your alley.

I like Stagg Junior as well, but prefer Lrrceny barrel proof as I really like wheated bourbons.

Heaven Hill bottled in bond is pretty solid.

Scored it and a Bookers 2023-3 at the Virginia drop this weekend. Lady in front of me grabbed the last Shenks or it would have been mine. :-(

Still awaiting ECBP C923 to hit Idaho. Anyone have one they’d want to trade?

Only have one (open) bottle but speaking of C923, I put it up against the other ECBP bottles I have (A121, B519 and a private stock) and C923 easily came out on top. One of the best buys out there right now for $70.

Finished off my bottle of EJ C923 with the family at Thanksgiving, and it was superb - one of their best.

Here was the turkey day line up.

Right now I’ve stocked up on Knob Creek 12 for the remainder of the holidays. Very, very nice - recommended.

I’ve read complaints that Larceny BP is inconsistent, but I’ve liked the two bottles I’ve had. I’m seeing it more consistently now, too. I’m not much of a Maker’s fan, but their cask strength has been my go-to wheated bourbon.

I came across Pikesville last month. It’s been a couple years since I’ve seen any in Montana.

The Bernheim Barrel Strength is another good wheater. Comes out of Heaven Hill as well.

Went with my gut and was not disappointed. The bottle just spoke to me:

Wanted to try something from this thread but scrolling and looking at shelves was getting me nowhere.

Definitely best bourbon I’ve tried so far.

Rye, like Islay scotch, gives you a little taste of being slapped by a jilted lover. But you just can’t help but go back and beg her for another chance. Bourbon, OTOH, gives you a sense of being kissed by your incredibly hot middle school teacher.

Paying homage to the Buddha of Bourbon with some close friends, and killed the first 2 bottles of RBB and RBR, so needed to grab some backups.Click image for larger version.
