Moment Bibby vs Ruby for EC Touring Rig?

So I'm throwing myself to the wolves on this one. Looking to get a touring setup for the east coast. I've got a relationship with Moment, so I'm looking to stay within their offerings. I intend to use this as a dedicated powder ski as well, at least for now. Going to be using the tahoe for every day use and I can't decide between the bibby and the ruby. Originally, I was thinking the ruby in 188 would be good because of the non-rocker and spending most of the time on the east coast.

Started reading more about the bibby and like the playfulness of it in 186cm. I'm only about 145lbs sans gear and about 5'10. I know the 190 ruby has the stiffer profile but I'm slightly worried about being able to power it hard enough. I'm a solid skier having spent a season in colorado but I'm by no means an expert.

Going to be mounting whatever ski I decide on with a pair of nx21's.

    Thanks for the input.

ha, I'll take that into consideration. I've unfortunately dropped like 10-15lbs since I've started working this new job. It's brutal.

x2 on the bibby, it looks like it would be a lot of fun for what you're looking for. I've also demoed the 188 ruby's one day @ snowbird where I liked them, but they really didn't seem like a ski for the east coast. I had the tahoes for a season and thought they were great in the trees on the EC (light, poppy, quick), but the ruby is wider so it's slower edge to edge, yet isn't real fat, has camber and has no rocker so it's not really much better than the tahoe for EC powder days.

I'm playing with a pair of 190 Bibby's as I type this. I grew up skiing at Sugarbush, and would classify myself as a very strong skier (super extreeeme expert).

I would personally not want the 190 Bibby back east.

If you don't consider yourself an expert skier, and given your weight. I think you would have a lot more fun on the 186 that the 190.

Not to add to the confusion, but I weigh 50% more than you and had no trouble with float on the 190 Ruby in deep snow which had tons of camber, no rocker, and is much stiffer than the 188. I actually felt they were plenty playful in soft snow. But obviously, all the cool kids rock the Bibby these days.

Tahoes are to the East as what Rubys' are to the West.
Bibyys' would compliment the Tahoes better giving more depth to your quiv.

Are you sure you want to do this to yourself?

Have you skied the night train at all? I know it's moment's one ski quiver but I'm wondering if it might be a little much for the kind of conditions I'm likely to encounter out east. Definitely leaning towards the bibby right now in 186.

Haven't skied the NT, but at your size, you will have absolutely no problem with float on the 186 Bibby. I've had such a blast on the 190 version that they are now the fattest ski in my quiver. Either the NT or the BP will give you amazing quickness through tight trees with the BP having a bit more sidecut.

This has had me wondering for a while, on paper, BP's would be more your one ski quiver and the NT's would be a pow ski. Strange, I guess i'll find out how versatile the NT's are after christmas.
