i would have thought that he owned the building.

i can see the other items ^^^ leading to him finally throwing in the towel and retiring.

y'all up there should try to pillage his spare parts bins, if possible!

Pro ski in North Bend...mounted two pair of DPS and a few others just fine. Then totally mismounted a pair of DPS and ended up buying the ski since it couldn't be replaced that season. Huge hassle. Wrecking a ski pissed me off, but lesson learned. If the ski is important to you, mount them yourself.

Marmot in Bellevue has done a number of mounts for me. Some are rather nasty @ -0- tolerence, -)- adjustment. Not always been perfect however. Just no redrills to date or wrecked skis. $50 per mount. Issac left for Europe months ago. They have a new shop tech Issac trained that just got started doing Dynafits this fall. By request Eric did my last pair. YMMV

Lock announced Marmot was closing two days ago...sad to see them go. They have had a good run through some really tough times. MMW, Bellevue and Lock were good for our community. It is not enough but I wish them all well.

Went to Pro Ski on Aurora for the first time looking for a "pro a boot fit". Which turned into a totally clueless effort on their part and a waste of my time.

Booze and bindings? Age old tradition of trading booze or booze and pizza for binding mounts. My suggestion is skip that. Mount them yourself (best suggestion here IMO) or have a shop do it and PAY the going rate. That way if it does get fooked up you can say straight faced..."dude, you need to replace the skis."

Yup, Lock is indeed closing down MMW. Yet another brick & mortar outdoor shop out of biz due to Internet. Word is that Lock poured lots of money into MMW in lean years.

It always smelled to me of a business in the wrong location, in too big of a space, going very slowly broke for basically lack of the imagination to do anything different.

Look at their website for instance.....

thanks for the update about MMW. i just looked more closely at FB and have seen some banter among friends. 40+ yrs is a pretty damn good run. w/o airing dirty laundry, i definitely owe lock gratitude for the short tenure of employment and his longer term financial investment in the industry.

Bahh, that sucks. I helped close down the Berkeley Marmot after working there ~6 years; my boss had worked for Lock over 20 years.

Bummer about MMW, never visited personally but working for a small business myself really brings that to life...small business owners put so much effort out there, gotta show the support when you can.

Pro Ski in Seattle has been really good to me. Dynafit mounts, under the table indemnified mounts (note: does not apply tothe new owners who purchased it in August 2013), and the new owners are super enthusiastic about getting the boot to fit right, even when it takes 2 or 3 times.

youmean crap art and a coffee bar? it's a ski shop ffs. Their biggest "failure" was poorly managing their e-cred. alw2ays got way more stick here an on cc.com than they deserved I thought when other "cool" shops got repeat passes for fuckups.

lock's old now. nobody going to buy it, might as well shut it.
