View any event in history... your choice?

    Rules:

    1. You get to watch the whole event from start to finish if you want, and from whatever vantage.
    2. You are a viewer, not a participant. Therefor, you cannot be harmed if it is a volcano or a battle.
    3. No fair saying "all of history."

    ... aaaand GO!

I want to see the birth of the first lawyer, so I can shove that sonofabitch back in and slap his mother.

Shiiiiiit....too many to choose from. I'll wait for the collective.
By the way this is how this forum will go
    Battle/War related posts
    Then some sex posts
    Back to Battle/War related
then WAY serious as somebody says "The day my son/father/daugther/husband/wife passed away suddenly" and we'll all just realize that watching pearl harbor/stalingrad/the signing of the articles of conferderation is ghey in light of that.

    Earth History:
5 days before and after the Chicxulub Impact Event. I could see dinosaurs!!!
I would pick this over the big bang or a supernova->black hole because I love dinosaurs

    Human History:
Louis and Clark Expedition - to see the West before it was settled by Europeans

You can both watch the big bang, OK?

I'm not sure how much a human would be able to perceive beyond brilliant and blinding white.

Assassination of JFK, on the street, with hind-sight of LHO's position. Who really did it? (Damn Boston-Irish heritage)

Without a doubt, I would want to witness and understand the big bang.

Understanding what led up to the big bang and the resulting inflationary expansion is just too big of a mystery for my head to get wrapped around.

EDIT... fuck you Jimmy Carter for stealing my event.

    A geographer's top 3

Seeing the discussion when Ptolemy publishes Geographia. There are some original Ptolemy maps in Croatia I saw in 2007 and was blown away by the cartography, artistry, and finally the exactness.

Safe view of Krakatoa erupting. Ash, pyroclastic flow, tsunamis. total darkness. People must of though it was the end of the world.

On board the Nina, Pinta or the Santa Maria searching for a shortcut to the East Indies and bumping into the new world.

    this comes to mind

Seriously though, the event for me would be to be under the stadium at the University of Chicago when Fermi and crew lit up the atoms in a chain reaction.

I'd go with a camcorder, and document the supposed zombiefication of Jesus for Snopes.

Without a doubt, although I don't think I would approach it from the same angel.

    How about "Et tu, Brute?"

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it would look something like the flash you get from a concussive head injury followed by the ludicrous speed scene in Spaceballs, sans Rick Moranis.

selfish, but I'd like to see my birth. not to gawk at the mother's twat, but I'm adopted and have always been very curious what the birth parents looked like. prolly super-good looking folks, likely royalty of some sort. i've heard she had red hair and the dad had a blue shirt on.

other than that, i'd like to see the first time joseph smith talked with the angel moroni, because whatever he was smokin', I wants me some! because if i could start a religion that requires my flock to fork over 10% of their income, I'd buy a bigger penis and a bugatti.

As far as epic historical events...there's so much to choose from, but I do know I'd love to go back in time to watch this event unfold:
