Question Scratch on the inside of my goggles

So I got a new pair of smith goggles last year. At one point they were all wet on the inside and i decided to dry them out with a paper towel. Obviously a bad idea, and now i have little hairline scratched on the inside that are somewhat annoying to look through. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? The scratches are very small and just on the surface. I searched google and all i could find was a suggestion to use clear chapstick?

PM rontele he runs a goggle buffing service out of his back room.

Buys his chapstick wholesale so helps to keep the price down.

Why not try wearing them upside down. This might move the scratch to less conspicuous place.

Yes, lets buy new 100$ goggles to fix the tiny scratches! Thats the american way. No one can give any positive feedback? I'm surprised no one has a quick fix for this...

    Deep breath there.

Not sure there is a fix for it -- suck it up and ski on.

    BTW -- Chapstick --- really?

I'm gonna probably get killed here, but try PlastX made by meguiars. Do not fucking use it on mirrored lenses. If you fuck it up, oh well. Its your problem JONG.

lol yea chapstick. Apparently you can use the clear stuff and then rub the excess away and it will fill in the small scratches. Don't know if it's worth trying though.

I'm kinda thinking any wax or petroleum based product is going to really nut things up -- but I could be wrong.

Next time , spend $105 and get one of those super snazzy lens cleaning cloths and keep it in your jacket. or just use the baggy that they came in which is made of the same fabric.

    1. Tech Talk (don't they teach you how to effectively search the Interwebs where you come from?)

    2. if they are indeed only a year old, have you even remotely considered the possibility of the WARRANTY? most goggles are warrantied for at least a year, sometimes 2. also have you even remotely considered taking them back to the place of purchase? (again, most online retailers have a warranty, such as REI, Backcountry.com, etc)

geez Louise! i honestly think that the Interwebs are making people stupider and stupider (or at least completely unable to think things through themselves..."Hey, let's just post my question in the World Wide Web rather than trying to come to a reasonable answer myself").

seriously, the time and energy you spent posting this in the wrong forum section could have been used to actively pursue your warranty options, contact Smith directly (did you even bother to do that? I mean Smith makes the goggles, they might actually have the answer to your question), or return them to the place you purchased them from.

you are truly deserving of a JONG call out, that's for damn skizzle.

and yes, i have a serious bug up my ass. i'm sick. i'm unemployed. and there's no snow in the Sierras. and i'm getting tired of spambots and clueless idiots cunting up an otherwise enjoyable and informative online community.

Or read all the warnings on the packaging that say not to wipe the inside when wet.

    Which Goggs?

Hey, yeh, wrong forum JONG, this should be in TechTalk...

But, anyhoo, which MODEL of Smith goggles do you have?
One of us might be able to hook you up with a replacement.

AFAIK, there is no way to "repair" a scratched lenses. If we can't help, you'll need to get a Replacement Lens from Smith Optics.

Smith have a Lifetime Warranty, which rocks, but your lens prolly won't count.
You should buy a Smith anti-fog cloth, for about $4...really!
Oh yeh, get one of their "snow erasers" too, made just for wiping away wetness inside the lens.

^^Ditto. There is NOTHING, repeat nothing you can do for a scratch on a lens. There is no magic buff juice, no super scratch filler product that will work. You are SOL unless you buy a new lens or new gog. Warranties don't cover scratched lenses most of the time, wouldn't expect much luck there. Next time take care of your $100 plus gogs by using the microfiber as recommended by the manufacturer--sucks but youll know for next time. End spoonfeed.

The only question i have is WHY are you buying $100 googles?
