Teach them how to be totally independent , including carrying their own gear, getting up from a fall, responsible for their own speed, etc. Those harnesses are a menace and a crutch and don't encourage the skills necessary to ski. Stick with the beginner slopes, an edgie-wedgie (if necessary) and lots of gummy bears, marshmallows and (insert favorite candy here). No poles and no "pulling" as they are capable of learning how to skate (easier than the wedge based on physiology). Lots of flatland training to keep them off their own skis, e.g. clocks, wedge jumps, heel push outs, etc.

There is a thread on this subject somewhere. Maybe uptrend here actually. Please don't cunt this thread up and use a hula hoop. Harness unnecessary even for picking kids up that's why they have goggle straps.

Hula hoop works great. 15 foot pex plus some fun tape for decoration.

Edit - Have passed on these to another mag.

I have two brand new edgie wedgie's that i'll send for $ shipping, probably $5. Also have one of those harnesses thats lightly used I can throw in too. Bought them when my kids where little, but they never needed them.

Not skiing directly though used for hut tripping and backpacking in the summer... anyone have a lightweight kids sleeping bag their groms have grown out of? I'm looking for a kids bag for my 7yo that's a bit more performant than what we have currently.
As far as new what else other than Feathered Friends is available in high quality kids sizes?

I don't have a bag for you, but if you're going to spend some coin, why not get an adult sized bag so they don't outgrow it? An adult 650 down bag will still pack pretty small, and an 800 will pack super small. And they will last forever, or if your kid still outgrows it (like say you get a woman's bag that fits someone up to 5'6" and the kid grows to 6'), you still have an adult bag to sell.

I was initially hoping for the kids bag as me and the wife have nice 3 season bags so no need for another, but I called FF yesterday and they said they aren't making their kids size bags for the next year at least to keep up with demand for the other bags. So I guess an adult bag it is unless I find one used.

I've always felt a bit weird about WM, their super light stuff seems very not durable(I imagine FF UL is as well) and their MF bags seem sized for larger folks.

I went through a similar search for my kids a couple years ago. Nothing really out there I found that was decent for kids specific bags. Ended up buying womens Reg. Length bag, fit up to 68”. I found the Mountain Hardware Bishop Pass 15 to be best balance of size weight and price. We use for summer backpacking mostly (and car camping) works well for my 8 and 10 year old daughters.

We are in the middle of a remodel and things are buried. I will try and dig them out. I have two kids Enlightened Equipment quilts. They have worked well. Not sure we are ready to move on from them but something to consider. They work very good for kids.

I still have two REI Kindercone 30* sleeping bags, fits up to 66” tall kids. definitely not what timmaio is looking for, but if anyone is interested. Heavy, not compressible, but great for car camping. Clean, Lightly used. $20 each local pick up preferred, Seattle Area East side. Probably doesn’t make much sense to ship, but willing to at buyer’s expense.
