Arcteryx - sizing and favorite jacket and pants for snowboarding

OK - so I am not a small guy, and I am looking to score some Arcteryx gear this fall.

6' tall. 250 lbs. 31 inch inseam. Yeah laugh if you want - Weevils wobble but they don't fall down. So I have a long torso. I usually wear a tall in whatever. Shirts are usually sized 18. Pants are usually XXL. And XXL short.
With boots on a regular length pant will work fine.
Since I don't get to try the stuff on I am looking for a little maggot help to see what will work best.

I can't ride in insulated stuff at all. I get too hot and I prefer to layer. Jacket hood if it has one, has to be removable.

Pants if bibs must be low front bibs to accomodate my.........own personal insulation.

I do snowboard, but hardly ever sit on my ass - to clip in or otherwise. Don't spend much time on my knees either but when carving hard knees clip the snow sometimes.

    Favorite pants?

    Favorite Shell?

Thanks for reading. Appreciate any input you have.

Heh. Last year I started a thread about Arc'Teryx weird sizing after I bought a pair of their Theta SK bibs in an xxl short off of Tramdock (for $90). I'm 6' 220 lbs w/ a 31 inseam.

The length was dead on the money (short?). The waist and seat are loose but not uncomfortably so (the belt plus suspenders helps wiith that) . The bib is low rise and their is too much material to fit me right but it's no concern to me.

Insulation? They ain't got no stinking insulation. Goretex to keep you dry but you'll need some good base layering if the temp goes way down.

Bottom line I like them a lot.

Fate Shell I have an XL and it's pretty roomy, good water proofing, bring your own insulation as well.
Damn, we're in a tight spot!

I am 6'5" and 200lbs and have had the Sidewinder XL for the last couple of years. It is good in the arm length (I wear a 17 shirt) and it SUPER baggy, I can fit my down jacket underneath.

As for the hoods - there is another thread on hear talking about the Arc'teryx jackets and the general consensus was that their stow-able hoods were too large for the pocket and got quite tight when the hood was folded into the collar. So that isn't awesome.

I have their SK pants and a Stingray jacket, both L, but I'm 175.

My brother, on the other hand, is 6' and 245. But he's got more along a 33" inseam methinks. ANyway, he's got a Sidewinder AR in XXL. He's a big boy and he's got plenty of room in that jacket. The XL fit him well, however it was just a tad tight across the shoulder blades (he's built like a linebacker). He likes roomy jackets though.

I would say you are a no brainer for XXL/short Arc pants, but it would be in your best interest to try on the jackets. You can go XXL for sure, but you may be able to do an XL if you'd like a bit more svelte fit...AND it really depends on the Arc model. My Stingray is way closer fitting than the Sidewinder SV or AR I've owned in large.

Oh, and my favorite stuff is their Stingray jackets and pants.

Holy elk rack Batman. That's a good looking elk there sizzler. I didn't get to bow hunt at all this year.

    Thanks all for the feedback.

I thought I had seen XXL short in the catalogs online but can't find them anywhere now that I am trying to order.

I usually wear a helmet and haven't used the hood on my Solstice jacket ( it comes off ) but once or twice and that was for cold rain in the summer.

Doesn't look like any of the Arc hoods come off. They are all folded up in the collar??? Does this seem right?

Great looking gear I just want to make sure I get the right thing.

    Thanks again.
