Silvers - TR - Fai to Vdz

Made my annual (2nd annual) trip down to Valdez over this past Labor Day weekend. The goal was to have fun with the Silvers, avoid moldy pinks and get 18 fillets stocked into the freezer.

While I had a blast and my arm was sore by the end, neither resulted from "having fun with Silvers" nor resulted in "18 fillets stocked". That's not entirely true, but fishing was poor overall.

Drive down and back is spectacular especially with Fall colors and beautiful weather. But I have plenty of these pics from last year and chose to only take moon roof in-motion pictures. Did stop once to gape at the Worthington Glacier.

Saturday and Sunday were idyllic but fishless.

Monday morning blew in with fog and a feeling of purgatory, both in the setting and moment.

Cuddly little guy roaming the beach all morning. Don't know why the hell I only took two pictures being he was around all morning and as close as 20feet at times (other one is blurry too).

The catch. Two fish total and both on Monday morning. Guessing 18 hrs spent on the Point actually fishing.

Wanted more fish obviously but it was a heck of a time. Can't wait for the 3rd Annual.

The views heading 'home'....... and radio antenna....

Thanks Schwerty. Silvers are my favorite salmon to catch up here(although I haven't got into any Kings yet). But they readily chase lures, decent size, fight real well and taste great.

Nice AKPM. You getting them somewhere in the valley? And I'll be joining the moose hunters next week. Float hunt mainly for moose but also keeping an eye out for bear and caribou and of course chasing trophy Bows.

You should of come over here. Ibek Ck is loaded. Kind of strange we were up in Port Gravina to fish silvers and there was nothing. Did catch two 50lb halibut. This rain will probably ruin the Ibek for the season.
