Had to double check the post date after reading this. Sept? Then again it only makes sense - Squirrel moves to Jackson and the PNW gets big snow in Sept. for him, for the PNW.

Is that forecast just for Baker?? I just pulled this off NOAA's site...
"A MUCH COOLER AIR MASS WILL MOVE INTO THE INLAND NORTHWEST FROM
SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY. SNOW LEVELS WILL BE GRADUALLY
FALLING...BOTTOMING OUT NEAR 6000 FEET SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY
MORNING ALONG THE NORTHERN CASCADES. THOSE WITH OUTDOOR PLANS IN
THE MOUNTAINS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR MUCH COOLER TEMPERATURES...AND
EVEN A CHANCE FOR SNOW SHOWERS IN THE HIGH CASCADES. THE HIGHEST
PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS WILL OCCUR NEAR THE CASCADE CREST...WHERE
MINOR SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE MAINLY SUNDAY NIGHT."
Not quite as exciting....but this is centered on the Steven's Pass area.Fuckin' shit up since 1964

I'm looking at higher elevations. The coleman starts at 6400'. Better accumulations would be found higher, but the problem is the glacier is extra crevassed this year. NW of colfax peak is an area that rarely breaks up. I haven't been there all season as the road is just opening today.
I'm expecting 12" of slop over dirty rocky glacier ice. Maybe not epic, but I'm going up anyhow.Living vicariously through myself.

Temps pretty high at valley bottom. Going to hike up to alpine tomorrow to look at things but not optimistic. Was 12 degrees @ 1200m today. Need to get colder
Whistler cam shows night time temps @ 2200m @ 3 degrees so not close to being cold enough. The cold snap might be localized to Baker?

there'll probably be some new snow up there, and i'm heading up tomorrow to take a look around, but the first storm of the season is usually much more like this (what i found three years ago)...
http://www.turns-all-year.com/skiing...p?topic=5307.0
and a whole lot less like this (two years ago, october..but ya need about 4" of rain equivalent to dump that much snow in one shot)...
