changing a tire with track dropouts???

    i suck, i am dumb, i=fail.

ok, so i've been running an ebb with a quick-release on my ss. my new bike, has horizontal "track" dropouts, i have no idea how to change a tube. i'm fairly certain i could get the wheel off by loosening everything, but i hesitate to do that before i know the exact process for getting it back on and tensioned properly.

i referred to my sensei of bike wrenching (youtube) but found nothing helpful.

i therefore would like to plum the collective for references to (hopefully) a video showing the correct process for this problem. or failing that a good description of just what to do.

the new bike is a spot longboard, it has the tensioner wing-looking-thingies on both sides, if it matters.

    thanks for your help.

    -loosen the axle nuts
-loosen the chain tensioners abit, the same amount on each side, and count the number of turns that you loosen them
-drop the chain off of the f. chainring
-pull the wheel out, fix the flat
put the wheel back on, chain on ring / cog
-retighten the tensioners to where they were
-chain should now be the same tightness it was when you started; so have ~1/2 to 1 inch of play up and down (basically, chain shouldn't be drum tight, but not so loose that it can fall off the chainring). If putting tensioners back in same place doesn't put the chain at the correct tension, adjust accordingly
-make sure wheel is straight. If not, adjust tensioners accordingly (making sure that you're not messing up the chain tension)
    -tighten axle nuts

^^ that makes it look more complicated than it is; its really straight forward.

Since you have a tensioner changing the tire is really easy.

Is your Spot Longboard a belt drive with disc brakes?

If so, I've been a little worried about the same thing. I had such a difficult time getting the belt set up in the first place, I'm scared to mess with it, now that it's perfect.

I would suggest that if you have a digital camera - you take a picture of how the back wheel is set up now, before taking anything apart, so you know how to place the spacers. Then take pictures through the process, so you can refer to them when putting it all back together.

It really helps to have a repair rack, so you can get the tension right again (as you may know, the tension has an effect on the belt alignment, and it can be tricky to get it right). It's also nice to have a "cricket" (but I'm betting you don't), to help make sure the belt tension is perfect.

It's not as simple as a regular bike, I don't believe. It's not like a chain, where there is some room for error - the tensioners have a significant effect on the belt alignment. You'll also have to recalibrate the disc brake, which is actually really easy to do, but I can't describe it well (sorry).

It only hurts the first time.

    Good luck!
