Forgive me father, for I have sinned. When I was crashed out on the boat in the Bezerkeley marina on Friday night and was awakened by a cold draft, thunder, lightning, and ran squalls I had an impure thought. I thought, "I hope lightning doesn't strike the mast and kill me dead." I should have been thinking, "I wonder if it will be snowing at Alpine in a couple of hours?" To make up for this I believe that hail marys will be required until at least Nov. 1st along with a lot of car washing. So sorry.

Does anyone know what the average temps for Olympic Valley/Truckee are for this time of year? I have heard that its in the mid to lower 60's. If that's true other than this weekend temps have been like 10-15 degrees above normal all month. I hate hot weather!

doesn't seem abnormally warm up here.

i will definitely say that this was the least warm, least sunny, least bluebird summer i've seen up here in my 9 years.

hopefully the unsettled weather continues thru march giving way to the best corn season of all time.
    Still waiting...

I distinctly recall two very good winters precluded by a nice warm fall - hot even. It does not really matter what the temps is right now, but rather when the snow comes. The warm spell after last year's first dump had way more of an impact on early season skiing than anything that happens in September. BTW - it is still summer.

OTOH, the steady rain that fell for several hours, starting around sunset last night, was spectacular. Any dustings on any high peaks? It smells awesome this morning.

A couple of germans moved in next door, and I am not getting a pass this year.
Looks like it could be a big year.

Good on you RF for putting this together again this year.

As an aside, are any mags doing a ski lease in NLT this year (closer to Alpine/Squaw)? I may or may not go with the same house I did last year (it was in Kings Beach, so a bit of a drive to Squaw/Alpine). Have an Alpine pass, so committed to NLT (and will unforunately be making the long drive haul to SLT all the time for BC).

UCL, one of my buddies from Hastings is in a lease in NLT/Truckee somewhere. Dunno if they need more people, but I'll ask. Many of them, including my friend, have BC gear. I think they all have Squaw passes.

Isn't "skins" a euphemism for sex. What? Your old house have no street cred?

I think I am returning to my KW lease again. Nice location. Good mix of peeps, with a solid interest in touring.

So. When does winter start? I have Thanksgiving week off this year.

    MSP Squaw Roll Call

What? Everyone else is doing it!

Who is going? Who is dressing up (prizes for saucer boy costumes)?

I'm going with a 99% chance of costume, 100% chance of intoxication.

If we get enough people to go, perhaps renting a 15 passenger van could be fun... I have a keg shell for a deposit and a tap just sitting in my garage; does a keg count as an open container? If not the party bus, maybe we could meet up at a Squaw bar for a pre-game... I'll possibly have some swag of my own to spread around so able to play some games of our own.

    okbye

OOOhhhh! Good call. I'd say the middle show (doors open at 7 & show at 8), but if anyone is planning on going and you're feeling the other shows post up.

I'm thinking the show is late enough to let people get there without rushing, and early enough for people who may make a bit of a drive to get home at a decent hour. Thoughts?

What's the problem? Just put your phone to vibrate. You can still be on call.

^^^ Thanks for putting things back on track. I updated the [ame=http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2492818&postcount=6]Hot Shotz[/ame] post up to the first 50 pages of last season's thread. I tried to get a little of something from everyone.

I'd be happy to move things around so if there is something you think everyone needs to see let me know and I'll post it. I would have posted more pics but you're limited to 35. I'll update again soon.

Agreed that this thread needs some old stoke to tie in the years. Here are some of my personal faves from last season (so many to choose from):

    Thanksgiving at Mammoth:

Silver Peak, January 3rd (skier UCL, skinner Scutski)

Alpine Meadows - Some Random Day in March (skier UCL, boarder non-mag Benny)

Halls of the Gods, Angora Peak (Skier AKBruin, Skier Sierra Souljah, Skier UCL):

Matterhorn Peak, Eastside (skier AKBruin, skier AKBruin, pointer UCL):

Alpine Closed skinning in late April:

Sierra High Route (skinner non-mag Craig, skinner UCL):
