I did indeed ski "The Patches" last Friday and they were holding well. There was still snow blocking the road up to Forestdale Divide (some other cats attempted to cross the snow and started to break through enough that they woulda rolled their rig).

I yo-yo'd 6 runs starting at the furthest patch (milked three runs outta that after hiking to the top of the Divide), then kept working my way back down the hill.

Groms were in full effect on the Mother Patch with a surf board to rail, some boxes, and a few metal rails (passed a Forerunner on the way out and they had 2 more boxes lashed to the roof). Was about a dozen boarders gettin' swivvy, I would imagine. They pretty much ignored me as I hiked. One of 'em actually booted up the main patch and then complained all the way down about how shitty the snow was and that he'd never boot it again. Not sure what he was talking about as I had sweet creamed corn all the way down.

As I was leaving ran into a cat named Jeff who had hitched a ride up the trail with some of the boarders and he was headed out toward Kirkwoodish/Carson Pass direction to hit a nice bowled patch that was out there (I had contemplated said patch, but since I was solo I decided to stick closer to the road). He invited me to join him but storm clouds were on the horizon and thunder was in the air, so I decided against it.

At any rate, the skiing was decent and I copped 6 lines in 3 hours, which wasn't too bad. Made it back to SF in time to catch happy hour.

A lot of feline activity in the month of July.

I [I]may[I] be done for the season. We are in a pretty great run of surf right now, but then again, i may need to get some August turns.

did somebody say August turns? I might be able to disobey doctor's orders and sneak in July turns next Saturday and try to get this silly every month all year thing going. Then again the Dodgers are in town and maybe I'll just drink beer watch baseball and regain some of the pounds I lost.

If we don't go to Saturday's (7/31) game and my lungs/ribs/arm are feeling a lot better, I may try to get some patch silliness with anyone who's around. Don't want to do R/T Sisters until I'm stronger and have my PLB ... August turns and MTBing anyone?

    Patches

Yesterday we skied three of The Patches. (Three others also looked skiable.) Surprisingly firm underneath a soft surface.
Here are a few quick photos.

Pretty easy access for some July turns.

Yes, it is really that easy. I won't post beta, but I did send you a PM so you can contact me just in case you haven't already figured it out from the riddles and poems posted here.

Thanks Vets! Think I got a pretty good grip on where to go. Now just need the time.

So, anyone know of a 3br or larger house or condo in Alpine that's dog-friendly? Our planned place fell through.

Bump! Not sure why T-Boz hasn't posted this up here yet:

I still can't believe how great the coverage was at the end of May. What a season.

A while ago I read that there is this club near Tahoe City that offers beds for around $30 for its members. A friend asked me about cheap lodging today, and I just can't remember the name and spent quite a while searching. Can someone remind me please? Thanks.
