I did indeed ski "The Patches" last Friday and they were holding well. There was still snow blocking the road up to Forestdale Divide (some other cats attempted to cross the snow and started to break through enough that they woulda rolled their rig).
I yo-yo'd 6 runs starting at the furthest patch (milked three runs outta that after hiking to the top of the Divide), then kept working my way back down the hill.
Groms were in full effect on the Mother Patch with a surf board to rail, some boxes, and a few metal rails (passed a Forerunner on the way out and they had 2 more boxes lashed to the roof). Was about a dozen boarders gettin' swivvy, I would imagine. They pretty much ignored me as I hiked. One of 'em actually booted up the main patch and then complained all the way down about how shitty the snow was and that he'd never boot it again. Not sure what he was talking about as I had sweet creamed corn all the way down.
As I was leaving ran into a cat named Jeff who had hitched a ride up the trail with some of the boarders and he was headed out toward Kirkwoodish/Carson Pass direction to hit a nice bowled patch that was out there (I had contemplated said patch, but since I was solo I decided to stick closer to the road). He invited me to join him but storm clouds were on the horizon and thunder was in the air, so I decided against it.
At any rate, the skiing was decent and I copped 6 lines in 3 hours, which wasn't too bad. Made it back to SF in time to catch happy hour.
