Just noticed this! I'm up for this (probs gonna get my ass handed to me but should still be fun), just so we are clear what constitutes photographic proof? Does it have to be a photo/video of us actually during the line, or if we are riding along can we take a photo at the top of the line looking down and take one from the bottom looking up showing our tracks?

^^Not true. The leaves are starting to change already. Squirrels are going crazy. Big sappy pine cones are starting to hit windshields.

Racoonface, nice work! You made my life a lot easier this winter. I've never bookmarked a thread on TGR but that just changed...

bwahaha! Post number one of 3 million for me. Up in Tahoe right now as well, and I have beta from today that conditions at the South Lake Skate Park aren't very good for 46" longboards ...

I'll be wearing red board shorts and a t-shirt tomorrow!!!

    Thanks for starting the thread.

Winter already? Felt like 100 degrees today. That said, I did see a few pictures of snow, and a guitar made from a ski.

its a section in Squallywood, each line is assigned points according to difficulty, conditions, etc. extra points can be gained by throwing tricks on the lines, doing them naked, etc. maybe i should Scan my book, then we can have a copy up here.

Depends on a lot of factors.

First gating issue is how much travel flexibility you have. North Lake Tahoe via 80 is generally more likely to be passable than South Lake and Kirkwood via whatever, and it's four lanes instead of two. I think that's especially important if you're going to be doing weekends more often than midweeks. Also, there's a lot more near-slope lodging in North Lake than near Kirkwood.

As far as Squaw, the bad news is that no one knows how much the cheap passes will affect crowds this season, and the worse news is that they're gone. It'll now cost you $1300 without blackouts, $750 with blackouts, $650 with blackouts and no Saturdays in January & February. Comparable pass prices on the other side of the ridge, at Alpine, are $800, $500, and $400 -- or $1100, $850, or $750 with a pair of Moment Tahoes or Rubies thrown in.

I think there are still cheap Kirkwood passes.

I'm glad the new format is going over well!

P-Dork the 213 blog is in the Mag projects section in the first post, and AAS that would be sick if you could scan all the GNAR rules! If you do that I'll put them in the score post. And, I was checking from my phone, but I saw someone wanted to change title... I'll see if I can get someone to do that.

    As far as scoring:
"just so we are clear what constitutes photographic proof? Does it have to be a photo/video of us actually during the line, or if we are riding along can we take a photo at the top of the line looking down and take one from the bottom looking up showing our tracks?"

I don't know what to say about this. I'd like to say you should have someone take a pic of you in the line or some creative way to take a pic of yourself skiing it (POV still in the line?). I think it's more in the spirit of the thread to post stoke rather than vista shots. If you really want to post a sick line then yea sure do what you think is necessary (top/bottom), unless someone complains I won't hold points from you... I guess it would be on the hon-gnar system.

Just finished putting on my summer wax on the last pair of skis. Now this - winter stoke. Damn.

Current ggweather maps show some moisture and a cold core hitting Tahoe next Saturday. Mmmmm, September snow?

That'd be cool. The firefighters could certainly use some help from above right now. I think the shop in Auburn where I was going to have my Jeep realigned on Tuesday may have burned down this afternoon.

Okay beitches, Tahoe conditions from 8/30/09 comin at yah...

    Rolled up Forestdale today.

"The Patch" aka "Park Rat City" aka "The PRC" aka "The People's Republic" has officially been dissolved and is no longer in governing order. Seeing this we rolled up the hill to the Retro Patch, only to find it's gone so retro that Tim Curry in leather and fishnets couldn't undo the time warp. No, that's not a rock in the upper left, that's snow!!!

That line looked a little burly so we rolled around the corner to check out the steeper "rollover" patch:

Shit, that's good for a turn, or (point) three.

Higher ground was in order then.

Specifically, the patch in the center of this shot looked like a reasonable bet ... when we saw that two other skiers and a boarder already had that same thought and were climbing down after a few laps on the sucker. Out thyselves maggots!

After surviving intergalactic space winds on the summit I watched liketoride drop in for a couple of runs. One of her friends told her that getting on a skate was a great way to take the edge off the summer snowboard withdrawal ... I think she misinterpreted his suggestion.

Anyone wanting the full on winter experience in these dog days can go schralp a few laps on Round Top then go hop into Winnemucca ... I can tell you that it's just as ball-shriveling as diving into the snow!

Schralph out, until the next conditions report.

Hmmmm thanks for the info - definitely a few things to think about - gonna be all weekend trips so good to know. So those $750 passes at Squaw are not the "cheap" ones? How cheap were the cheap ones before they were done?

Until May 10, the $750 passes were $450 or $500, I forget which, and the full passes were like $700 or $750 -- search the April threads for Squaw pass. Then I think there was an interim price before the current bump in July.
