    FKS/P18 binding screw lengths

    Check my measuring/math:

have a pair of p18's (FKS - for searchability) turntables from a mag in VT. Screws are new - and are miss/mix matched. Have a few mounting options here, and looking at a screw purchase from slidewright.... but they seem to not be directly available in the "flat" head (wood screw styled).

    binding depth(shoulder only/ screw head->base):
    toe @ 3mm / 8mm
    heel (front) @ 3mm / 8mm
    heel (back) @ 16mm / 16mm

mount flat: - from bottom of head (shoulder) to tip
screw style = shouldered, head width =7mm mm, total length= 16mm
    2 toes x4 @ 5.5x11.5mm = 7.5mm insertion depth
    2 heels x2 @ 5.5x11.5mm = 7.5mm insert
screw style = pan head (square side), total length 28mm
    2 heels x2 @ 5.5x25mm = 8mm insert

    Slidewright package (ordered)... 12 x 16mm, 4 x 25mm - will update

mount 4mm riser - from bottom of head (shoulder) to tip
    2 toes x4 @ 5.5x15mm = 8mm insertion depth
    2 heels x2 @ 5.5x15mm = 8mm insert
    2 heels x2 @ 5.5x28mm = 8mm insert
screws seem to be "panhead" styled with a 1.5-2mm head.

Slidewright package (ordered)... 12 x 21.5mm (cutdown with dremel), 4x28mm

I'll update once I have them installed for insurance.
Looking to both record for posterity as well as get the right screws...

can anyone verify on their rigs...

Screw length is dependant upon ski thickness.

    Not really.

The screws for the toe piece are pan head style, while the heel screws have that round block head.

The fail safe way to check for proper depth is to press each screw into it's respective binding hole, and then take your bit, whether it is 9 or 9.5 mm and press the tip against the bottom of the binding. You will see if the screw is too long as it protrudes past the shoulder of the bit.

Actual lengths? Don't have any unmounted pairs or calipers for that matter, but you could call Rossi/Dynastar, or somebody here may have the tech manual or link to a PDF of said item.

Sorry reread your OP and realize you have the actual depths listed! Doh! 8 mm seems pretty good to me, 7.5mm probably good- mounting into metal or wood?

I like to see 3 full threads on the screw minimum.

    Good luck.

Mounting Wood (Lhasa), and agree like 3-4 threads and on a P18, 4threads prevents tear out... 8ish mm on a 9mm hole is what I'm aiming for. Was hoping that someone had a set of stock screws that they could caliper for me (front, heel(front),heel(rear)) as all that I have are either a) replacements or b) in storage.

I did a) caliper the screws, then b) press them through, and c) subtracted b from a to get binding depth. But just looking to verify.

Don't have calipers, but thought I would throw these up:
Maybe they'll help (albeit somewhat crappy)

These Look pivot P18 screws are 15 mm long

Sorry for retarded-ness but I'm still a bit confused, I have p18's that came with risers and long screws so I plan on ordering shorter screws. Can anyone walk me through what I want from Slidewright? From this I can assume the toes are 5.5 x 11.5 but then the 2 heel screws are very different, Slidewright only seems to have the head type that would go on something like FKS 120 toes, not the type in whorehey's pics or the ones I have in other turntables

I looked through the local shop inventory and they're lacking, I need a full screw set for the bindings, or I could just mount with the risers, these are going on garbones
