Moylen's triple ipa, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. $9 /bomber. Get over it.
It's Moylan's - not Moylen's..... course you know what you are talking about. If you get off the IPA IBU bandwagon bought at the colorado cliche store bandwagon try Moonlight Brewing's Death & Taxes for a dark lager; their Bombay by boat ain't a bad IPA.

Since we are on the subject this years New Glarus Black Top IPA is awesome. Seems like this year they really nailed it start to finish.

^No Hugh, but I'll ask my "guy" to pick some up. He's got really limited space, but still manages to keep at least a half-dozen solid IPA offerings in rotation.

Just got back from St Anton where IPAs are pretty much non-existent. I quickly re-discovered my love of Heffeweissbier. When life hands you lemons...

Ach! Standards have slipped if they'll serve it in a plastic cup now

Not sure it's worth a special order really more it's at Whole Foods so pretty widely distributed, if you are ordering it, try the Stone Black IPA if you haven't

Yes, Hugh knows to only drink a nice big IPA in an ice cold glass.

Anybody try beers from Founders?? They make a pretty cool RyePA. I grabbed a sixer of Harpoon Rye IPA today and they are going down pretty good too.

yup. about twice or 3x per week. I'm a mug club member and stop on the way home for two pints. Founders currently in my fridge:
    Reds Rye
    Centennial
    Breakfast Stout
    Imperial Stout
    Cherise
    Harvest Ale
    Bolt Cutter
    Double Trouble
    Better Half

BTW - Bell's HopSlam is fkna fantastic this year.

I seem to remember first seeing that around NorCal 2+ years ago?

guroo, chill the fuck out. HC lives about 1200 miles closer to Moylans than you do, and I'm sure he's drank way more of it over the years than you. And plastics can impart smells, pthalates, and other poor qualities, not to mention not being able to see the color and bubbles, and the surface tension/head interaction is all different. That said, if I didn't have a choice I'd go plastic, but ... warm glass perfectly fine.

    Now.

Let's not forget that SF Beer Week is in 2 weeks and I will be showing up extra early at the DIPA festival. And Pliny the Younger is rather low on my stoke list this year ... Hopefully I discover another Boneyeard! Maybe tasting notes and a trip report this year ... we'll see ...

The dude comes in here and starts talking about black lagers, and corrects me on a vowel, and you're telling me to chill the fuck out? Got it.

All the local Centennial is from April 2012 around here. I don't know wtf that's all about, but I'm not buying a 10 month old IPA when it's sitting on the shelf right next to a 2 week old IPA using the same hops (2 hearted).

    That said, I miss it.

And I still can't get over this years hopslam. I try to drink 2 in a sitting, which leaves me pretty much worthless.
    focus.

I think I'm drinking one of the last stone 10th anniversary ipa's in nashville today. I'm looking forward to it.

I drank a whole growler of green man ipa the other day and barely got a buzz on. Not sure if that's more telling of my problem or if it was just weak.

Front Rangers, Left Hand has their seasonal Warrior IPA on sale. $3.99 a bomber or $30 a case. It's a steal. Grabbed 2 cases yesterday for me and some drinking buddies. Good, fresh hopped, smooth, nothing super hoppy like some OB or other local offerings. More sessionable though. Fresh and tasty! I've always thought LH does a better job with the darker beers (the Milk Stout, especially nitro, is titties) and not so much the IPA realm but this is changing my mind a bit. They have their Twin Sisters DIPA coming out sometime soon that I'm now looking forward to trying. Not sure how much Warrior they have left but thought I'd let some IPA fans know...

Had a few FYIPA's at Southern Sun last night. Have always really liked that beer. Tried the Illusion Dweller IPA and was pretty disappointed though. Super strong banana flavors and nose. Not very hoppy. Switched back to the FYIPA immediately.

I went to a Left Hand beer/dinner pairing event at Lucky Pie one time. The owners were there talking about each dish and each beer, actually both dishes. They put two plates out with each one to bring out different flavors of each beer. Anyways, they said they weren't all that into IPA's which is how 400 lb monkey came to be named. They were getting egged on to make an ipa and their master brewer said, "Any monkey can throw 400 lbs of hops into a beer and make an ipa." So when they made one, that's how it got it's name.

I'm drinking a Ninkasi ReNEWAle right now. This is a seasonal and apparently they change the style each year. For 2013 it's an ESB. Good beer. Definitely on the hoppier side of the ESB spectrum. Many would consider this an IPA.

They don't have an IPA, but try Jackalope in Nashvegas. If you haven't had a german weissbier that hasn't been fucked in shipping/storage in a proper glass (i.e. the weissbier glass posted) try it. Awesome beer. Unfortunately most American hefe's suck, the closest are probably the discontinued Lagunitas Doppelweizen or the Sierra Nevada Hefeweizen (at least, of the one's I've tried)

Bear Republic Racer X is still damn good.

Unless the prefix is Double, Triple, Quadruple or American.. Yes. You can have your session beer w/hops, or your hoppy porter, or your hoppy belgian.... but they aint' IPAs

831 is back at S. A and it's hoppy and happy don't think they'll bring their DIPA to beer week though

What about Uinta's Imperial Black IPA, Dubhe? I love that stuff. Out here all these homos claim that they "Balance out the hoppiness with caramel malts." BLLLLLEEEEEECHHH! FUCK THAT SHIT! Fucking lip stickiness bull shit. Sorry. I miss Colorado.

Hugh, I'll try that. I like Hefe's. I'm still disappointed I can't find any Gumballhead.

Ha...I see him often in the taproom. I'll be sure to pass it on.

TGR conundrum: How do I make our connection? We both are followers of the GSA? Sounds better than we both frequent an outdoor/winter-enthusiasts web site (he'll think guys making and taking pics of snowmen).

That is awesome. I didn't know that brewery from any other till I tried their brews both bottled and on tap. They definitely stand out and above the crowd!
