The French intern and I broke into Volkl's factory to get some sneak peek pictures of their new Uber-secret micro-Gotama:

any chance you could get some shots of other skis in there (RC12, answer, salomons...)
My Rossignol Pro RC112 198s have 46 cm of rocker when uncambered and 51cm when strapped together. Fun ski. Both stiffer and easier to ski than the 194 squad. I am skiing tele with the Rottefella NTN setup.
If anyone can tell me how to upload pics from an iPhone, I'll post them. Internet is down at the house and apple turned off tethering on the 3.1 software upgrade...
Cheers,
Ira
I put the 2009/10 Katanas base to base and had the same reaction at REI. The rocker is not very high, but is so deep on both tip and tail that the 176cm length is virtually full-length reverse camber. The 190cm has more pronounced flat spot from toe piece to heel piece of binding, but very deep rocker nonetheless.

If ski companies didn't make new skis every year I wouldn't have to get new skis every year.

Just got my '10 186 Gotamas and and thought I would share a few pics (next to my 177 Mantra's).
I got to see the RC112 198's today and at first glance you might not guess they have rocker. If you squeeze the bases together you see there is slight tip rocker but not a ton. I don't know about the numbers Ira is talking about but where the shovel starts it looked like half inch or less of splay. I'd say just about the right amount for this type of ski, because we don't need no stinkin' flappin'. I will get a photo up in the next few days, Monday at the latest.

FWIW, I saw yesterday some new sticks:
scott stunt 09-10: a little bit of rocker when squeezed, obSETHed-style
movement fly swatter: the production series has much less rocker than the demo I tesed (and reviewed)... it looks now a lot like the JJ
volkl kuro 09-10: continuous rocker, but the rise is much less than in EP pro, hellbents, lotuses 138 etc etc
2010 Volkl Kuro - 195 cm
Whole Ski
Tip
Waist
Tail
Yes they made a 195

I guess the size emblem thing isn't just on the Gotamas. Can't say I am huge fan of it. I hope they weather tested it and its not going to look like crap after a season.
Could someone show me a picture of the s7 sitting on the floor with weight on the binding area? thanks

How about an atomic blog
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
Formerly Rludes025

any tips on not looking like a fool taking pictures in the middle of the ski sale area?
If no one does it I will try to post pics when it get my pair of blogs.

So here's what I said I'd get photo's of. The RC112 198, Atlas 192, and my old Rockers. It's a lot of powder skis but I think the Atlas will be for trees and the RC112's more for wide open and <10" type days. The original Rockers are great skis but less versatile then these newer ones. They'll be for my son and anytime I can loan them to friends who are willing to try something new, not everyone has tried a rockered ski yet.
A couple of comments. The skis were put base to base no pressure. I tried to make sure the natrual contact points were made so that's the reason for the strap on the Salomon. The Rossignols have almost twice as much camber underfoot as the Atlas's which also have about twice as much as the Salomons.
Likewise with the front rocker, you can see from the contact point that the RC112's almost don't look rockered but when you squeeze the bases together it becomes very apparent they are. So the turn radius on the RC112 is 40m and on the Atlas 28m, I think the Rocker is also about 40. Also the RC112 is noticably stiffer than the Atlas but still maybe not stiff enough for a really agressive skier much over 180lbs. So the RC112- stifer than a Goliath, I'd say 7.5 and the Atlas- slightly softer than Goliath, so about 6.75 if the Goliath is around a 7.
I've come to think of skis as a lot more like surfboards than they used to be. I'm always amazed by how many 5' 10" squash tails a pro will have, what looks like overlap really isn't. Very subtle differences in shape equal big differences in what the boards work best in. Goes the same for skis.
