    Rossi Scratch Binding Problem

OK so last year I picked up a pair of scratch BC's with the matching rossi scratch 100/Look P10 binding (black/orange) and I an having a bit of a problem with them.

Occasionally (it has happened twice) the heel piece will fall off the back of the track. Not good. I almost lost the whole heel piece off a Whistler gondi last year and another time it fell off in the middle of a turn. Again not good.

I talked to the Rossi warranty people and they said it would be a a problem with a bent "worm gear". WTF is a worm gear and how does said worm gear get bent. Anyway I have to take it into a shop to see if this is the deal or not. Does anyone else have any info about this type or have seen this type of problem before?

Just to squash any ideas of the heel piece being too far back, this is not the case. Most of the time the binding functions perfectly. It is just in certain situations it seems like the forward pressure mech is getting backed out and the binding slides of the back of the mount plate.

It isn't the worm gear, it is the plastic base of the heelpiece. The worm gear is that screw at the back of the binding (if you look at the heelpiece from the bottom it looks like a piece of rotini) the bent base holds the worm gear up above the metal plate with the teeth in it, so that no forward pressure is maintained, i.e., the binding slips off. Rossi should warranty it, that binding is only like two years old.

Thanks for the info Laps, I was guessing that was the worm gear but wasn't sure. The Lange guy I was talking with did say something about something else possibly being bent. I guess I have to take it to the shop to see if that is what the problem really is. If it is the Rossi warranty person said they could ship new parts to fix it.

    Thanks
