    Just awesome...

Sorry if this is a rerun, searched but didn't find it. From ksl.com:

SALT LAKE COUNTY -- Deputies are looking for a man who robbed what he may have thought was a diamond company. Black Diamond Equipment actually manufactures climbing and skiing equipment.

Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies say the robber entered the company on 3900 South near 2000 East early Saturday morning.

The robber brandished an ice pick, threatened the shift manager and demanded precious metals and money. The Salt Lake Tribune reports the manager told the robber that the company does not deal in diamonds or precious metals.

Lt. Don Hutson said, "Not sure if he was unfamiliar with what this business was, that it's mountaineering gear and that type of thing."

The night crew let the robber take computers and climbing equipment.

The suspect is described as a Polynesian man in his 20s or 30s with a full-sleeve tattoo on his right arm. He was wearing a large, distinctive square-faced watch on his left wrist.

Sheriff's deputies say he's about 6 feet 3 inches tall with a medium build and a shaved head. He was driving a white 1990s Ford Escape-type SUV.
    ROBOTS ARE EATING MY FACE.

I can understand the need to use an ice pick as a weapon when it comes to jewelry and metals (as its a better incentive to give things up), but at my old workplace, an outdoors store, I always imagined someone having a bad day or looking to wreak havoc and grabbing a couple of heavy duty ice picks(which stand out in the open) and going buck wild on the store.
This imagined scenario was also exemplified by the fact that the people who always stole from us were crack and meth heads.
    Never happened though...
    Thats all.

Did he pick up the ice pick at BD, or did he bring it with him? Did he get a few spares on his way out for his next heist?

    That's funny.

Maybe we should cut the guy some slack. It does say Diamond on the sign. Of course next thing you know, he'll end up here:

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

from what i understand from the sltrib and radio reports, he broughtthe ice pick, but did get some ice screws and other similar gear with the computers.

it is funny, but sad that bd got robbed.

maybe it was the swiss chalet style of the complex that made him think there were jewels and metals there.

Man, those BD employees missed the opportunity of a lifetime. They could have had a crocodile dundee-esque moment.
