After reading the many post on this subject I decided to go see my Doc regarding symptoms received from a seemingly light blow to the crown of my head. I initially did not have any symptoms of a concussion, but as the days went by I developed intermittent headaches, "lightheadedness", and pins and needles in my face and scalp. Symptoms would not last long but got annoying and worrisome. Doc said all neurolgical tests were fine but sent me for a CT scan to be safe, scan came back clean. To relieve my symptoms he prescribed a Medrol Dose Pack (a prednisone Steroid) to decrease the perceived inflamation of my brain. Has any one had experience with this as a remedy for concussion or post concussion syndrome? I am not one to take Steroids for no real good reason.
Corticosteroids are commonly used to reduce inflammation......a key drug used in spinal cord/brain injury. In this case, you might have some in your noggin. The dosepak is well designed with a tapered dose. Keep an eye on your blood pressure, and blood sugar if you have any diabetic tendencies.
