Check out Hotel 1000. Very cool hipster boutique downtown. I know they have some good deals right now- interesting feature is the bathtub fills from the ceiling. Hotel Maxx is another good bet for a younger, hip vibe as far as boutiques go, Alexis is probably a bit too stuffy- but close to some good bars not normally associated with Pioneer Square (Marcus Martini Heaven and Owl & Thistle- classic great Irish Bar- get a seat in the main room and hope the house band is playing) - it's not the chain Fados which is on the other side of the block. There is also a W downtown but it doesn't quite live up to its siblings in other cities.

Belltown: Welcome to Man Blouse Country. Seriously you'll be up to your knees in D-Bags... but if you post up at a street level patio like the Cyclops and watch the insanity roll by while enjoying a drink or two with your lady it's actually really entertaining. Kind of like a circus of fake tan, euro shades and some of the dumbest outfits.

The Ace hotel is right in the thick of this but it's an awesome place. Small and kinda mod but really cool and not overly expensive.

Blinky would I be more MOSTLY right if I dropped Mashiko and The Beverage Place Pub on the list too? I got love for Westie

Some good advice from Squirrel. FWIW, I have no problem with the Ace Hotel but even the rooms with a shared bath start at 100 bucks. It's not that cool. In this economy, you can pretty much Priceline bid any four star hotel in Seattle and get it for 100 bucks (or less) and you won't have to lug your toothbrush down the hall to find someone else is using the john.

The location is OK but pretty much every hotel we've discussed here is within about 8 blocks of each other. Seattle isn't big... in all honesty, just don't stay on the Eastside or Sea-Tac and you'll be okay!

Ah, peaches, I'm welling up over here. Add the NEW Feedback Lounge and the Zeek's Pizza W Sea branch and you're good as gold.

Mugatu, why ya gotta stay only a day? Srsly???

Everybody, thanks so much, good suggestions.

Ended up booking a hotel through travelocity. The Watertown by the UW. Really, really nice hotel. Price was about $120 for a king bed, but the thing that drew me over some other 4-star hotels downtown to be had for the same price was free underground parking and free breakfast. The breakfast was really good for a hotel. Hot eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt, really good donuts, etc. This turned out to be awesome because I could bring my lady some eats while she toiled over getting ready for her job interview. She would've been too stressed to enjoy going out for a good breakfast.

Got in late Monday night and just made the pick to head to Ocho's. Really, really liked this place. The food was awesome, great drinks. Good little place to bring the lady.

Got a sandwich and take home pound (mole) from Salumi on the way out of town. I'd been here before. Honestly, it was a super short trip, and I'm pretty bummed we really didn't get to do anything. But she's super stoked on Seattle and I think from what she saw she'd be all about moving here for this job. All that's left is for her to get it. She's like one of two or three they are flying in for consideration. Keep your fingers crossed.
I am vile spew of the wretched masses.

Lord, please compel the recruiter/hiring manager at the heretofore-unnamed company to choose Mugatu's GF for the yet-to-be-filled position. And please compel said manager/recruiter to include season passes at Stevens and a 1000 dollar gift certificate at Evo or Proski or REI in the offer letter. And please let them find a house/condo/apt near work so they don't have to spend a king's ransom on parking or be subjected to viewing the unwashed masses personal grooming habits on the metro bus.
    Amen.
