    Fork offset question (29er content)

So I ordered a closeout 08 Reba SL for my 08 Kona Unit. The fork arrived today, and it looks like I received a 2009 Reba instead. Cool, as the 2009 is supposedly a stiffer fork than the 2008. But I've been reading a lot of stuff on MTBR about how the fork offset increased from 38 mm on the 2008 to 47 (?) mm on the 2009, and that pre-2009 bikes with steep headtube angles won't jive well with the new offset. Truth, or geeking out over nothing?

Should I return it and try to track down an 08 Reba? Or throw it on there and stop reading MTBR?

I knew I asked here for a reason. Two responses and not one diagram or equation. Money.
