    I Need a new Cookset

I'm looking for a new cookset for the summer. Looking for pot 3/4 to 1 liter and a cup that fit nicely together. I cook/clean stuff on a fire so I don't want any coating . MSR titan kettle/cup set would be great, but I really don't want to spend 100 bucks, plus I really don't care about weight. Brunton IB set is pretty good, except I really don't want/need two pots. Snowpeak has some good stuff, but paying the premium for Ti. Any suggestions?

What about MSR's Stowaway pots? Mine has been used on fires for several years, fits my stove, spoon, spices and lighter inside, and its still in great shape. And they're CHEAP.

I have a cheap MSR Blacklite that I picked up at a garage sale, but I really miss my old GSI Bugaboo set. They've changed it and added some plastic junk but the pots are money. Triple-anodized and teflon that lasts. http://www.rei.com/product/784104

Ti doesn't conduct nearly as well... I want to say I remember seeing something from Colin Haley or Mark Twight to the effect that they don't use Ti on superalpine stuff for this reason, even though they're crazy weight weenies.

I have something similar to this, but just the large cup and it has a slot in the top that Snowpeak's spork fits into: http://www.rei.com/product/668926 I use it for really light stuff when I'm not worried about efficiency with melting snow (not that it's big enough), or just when I'm heating some liquid for oatmeal or coffee.

Seconded. I've had my MSR cookset going on 14 years now, pretty durable stuff, and I use the cookset a TON. They all have a nice discoloration going on now, but they still work great. Come to think of it, I still have my original whisperlite stove that fits inside the cookset. I've practically replaced everything on it more than once, but it just won't die. Solid invesment at a great price.

I tried the ti stuff for a season and it got beat up pretty quickly, I went back to the good old standby without blinking.

+1 for MSR Blacklite. One of my regular hiking partners has been using his set for years. They show some wear, but are still perfectly functional.

I really like the look of the mug, I wish they were selling them separately, I sure as hell don't need another pot. It might be a bit spendy, $80, for you if you don't care about weight.

I also own blacklite and stowaway pots, and agree they are bomber. No nesting mug though.

Edit: Actually I do see the mug on sale a la carte, at MSR's website for $10. I'd say a mug and a 1L stowaway pot would be a great and cheap set-up. Only I am not sure the mug fits in that pot.

I'll be the dissenting opinion on the Blacklite stuff. Had the basic setup a few years back, the nonstick coating lived up to it's name - it didn't stick to the pans. After very minimal usage and no sort of excess scraping on the bottom/sides the coating just flaked off all over (even the underside of the lid).
Be careful about buying snowboard goggles for skiing. Snowboard goggles come in right eye and left eye (for goofy-footers) dominant models. This can make it hard to see correctly when skiing because you are facing straight down the hill, not sideways.

I actually have MSR Duralite Gourmet cookset and like it. Alum, not ti, but still very lightweight (much lighter than other alum sets). Has held up very well after a couple of years of general summer and winter abuse. Duralite surface is nice and non-stick.

Gourmet has a fry pan, 2 bowls and a handle. All fits nice together, and my Whisperlite stove fits on the inside.

Note: This is a good deal for the Gourmet (usually costs around $90). I have no affiliation with this place FWIW:

If you're on a budget, the MSR Blacklight pots are pretty much identical to a lowest-budget $15 cookset at walmart. The walmart cookset has a domed lid rather than flat lid, and you have to dremel the pot handle off, but the pots/coating/heat distributer are identical. Plus you get 1,2,3,and 4 liter pots in one cheap set!
