She is going to get some BIG, WET, and NASTY streamer fishing starting today through Sunday in Y.Stone. Weather sounds like it is going to be western....but that will add to the whole element.

My bros in Casper have been slaying the N. Splatte hogs lately. It is killin' me not to be heading your direction this weekend.

Maria showed up just in time for a fall run into Yellowstone. The weather was cold, snowy, and at times downright western. The fishing was decent and getting the opportunity to fish the "Official TGR Traveling Rod" was a pure pleasure. She was an absolute blast and the story behind her made the fishing that much more memorable of a trip. Thanks to the crew for making this happen, and to Dave for lighting the spark for a killer two day fall trip.

Wysplit amped to wet a line in Yellowstone:

Capitan Dave in a brief moment of sun:

Yup...I was stoked to be in Yellowstone, with epic weather, and...Maria:

    Ahhhhhhhh... finally a hookup:

Dave with the Brownie connection this weekend:

More weather and Maria trying not to freeze her little eyelits off-

This trip was not "all" about the fishing. We were in Yellowstone after all and the scenery had to be taken in too:

Bon Fire shenanigans with the hooligans and headlamps:

Thanks again to HFB and his father for making this happen. Super sick idea and it is so great to be a part of a wonderful community. Maria will be shipped to LukeS in Casper, Wyoming tomorrow.

72Twenty came up with the plan. We just helped out along the way. Great TR.

BTW, my dad checks this thread every month or so. He's loving the updates so keep 'em coming.

I'm sitting here in shorts, feeling very, very cold after reading through that...ugh, worst weather Maria has seen yet?

    way to work it though.

LukeS-I never received the journal or the flies from 72twenty, so?????? I would still like to pen an entry, but maybe Jeff should just send them to you. I was just stoked to get to use Maria.

Maria definitely froze eyelits all day on Sunday and was under constant management. I love epic trips like this...keeps the crowds down...

I was just wondering about that....
I actually just came on here to comment on it.
Who ever has the journal PM me or Wysplit for our addresses. I would like to put a little bit of my handwriting in if possible but it might be hard for you to catch up. any ideas?

I hope the journal isn't lost. That's just as important as the rod itself.

LukeS - Let's meet up for some mid winter fishing on the Reef sometime! Maybe we can get all the Wyoming boys together for a mid-winter ski break and catch some fish!
This is the last mention of the journal, so hopefully 72 still has it...

Maria is getting passed to Adipose today.
Will follow with my TR later tonight. I got 5 fish with her but no North platte hogs, so its up to the fellow Maggots to get her on a beasty fish.

Well looks like this needs some stoke and I have been meaning to get this up here any ways.....
I absolutely love the tube! The day it got in my parents commented on the giant tube covered in stickers at the door. Pretty cool and unique. And indestructable.
Maria and I started with a quick fun trip up into the Lake side of Fremont Canyon.

One fish was cought right before we ripped out of there. Pretty Rainbow but nothing spectacular for the time and place.

Next was a late night head lamp trip to the canyon side of Fremont canyon. This was an interesting trip, supposedly they keep this flowing at a steady 75 cfs year round, I'm pretty damn sure it was about 100 cfs. The water was murky as hell, high and it was damn cold! No pictures from this, no fishys anyways...
After that I went to the failsafe, a Private pond stocked with 12,000 rainbows and browns along with 10,000 fatheads for food. Along with the Bows and Browns there are about 2-300 Monster (24-30") Brookies that are almost never caught but about 2 or three are caught a year.
Several nice bows and browns were caught but only one was even worth Photographing.

The release of another smaller fish.

Finally I took Maria to the Washing Machine Hole for some true N. Platte nymph fishing. One miniscule rainbow was caught and released to grow up and be a big boy.

Overall Maria is a great rod, especially for nymph fishing as she mends and controls line really well. It was fun to have a new rod just show up at the front door and not have to pay a single cent too! I wish I could have given her a true N. Platte hog but thats why its called fishing and not catching.
I recieved the journal and fly box today so I will write my small note( Damn people! its a journal, Not a book! ) It was definatly cool reading about peoples experiences with her, and I will donate an "Indian Rugburn" for the fly box (Somebody Please catch a monster brown on this please!)
    LukeS

Adipose has the rod now and I will send the journal his way sometime the beginning of this week.

Nice work Luke! those look like decent bows, they must grow big there for that to be nothing special.

I never really read all the entries due to time and circumstance...I'd love to see the whole thing now...wow...it's been awhile!

How can I meet miss maria???

So is there a waiting list on this girl or what??? Here in PA we still have spring like temps but I haven't been out fishing in a while. I've also been without fly rod for so long I'm contemplating fashioning one out of bamboo from a friends house.

I'm southeast PA so no shortage of trout streams, but I'm sort of a fly fishing jong as well as I've only done it for about two seasons in my life.

I've been saving my 100th post until I can give a trip report of Maria, so here goes. Met LukeS at the Ugly Bug Flyshop in Casper and picked Maria up last week and got busy with her right away.

I was lucky enough to get her on some nice fish but they didn't come easy or often.

It took a little while to get dialed into her groove but once I learned how she preferred to be handled she performed very nice. Who and where do I ship her next??
