you can convert pdf to dxf online and do it in autocad or some other modeling sw

You can pull a PDF into Inkscape and draw over it, but Inkscape won’t convert PDF vectors to Inkscape components. With every template, whether I created it or not, I take an existing Inkscape template and modify it for whatever binding I’m going to mount, then save as a new template. The reasons I do this are that I want the inside diameter of the center holes to show up inside my drill guide (a piece of plate steel with a 3.6mm or 4.1mm hole that I clamp down before drilling), and that I put a BSL line at the exact location on the template so I don’t have to draw it. Takes me about 10 minutes to build a template if the dimensions are correct, and little more, if the hole locations are not dead to rights. Template creation, if no one has made a template or taken measurements, requires about an hour, give or take, based on my mental state at the time.

Also, I use Inkscape because it’s free. It’s great software, but there are definitely other options. I think CAD would be better, or easier to achieve the same results, but I’ve got what I need at this point.

    From DIY Binding Template:

    DIY Binding Templates

For those inclined to make their own templates or interested in helping get them created vs expecting/waiting on others to provide them, here are some initial thoughts that might help you:

    1) Print and verify scale of this binding template base sheet.

    2) Cut into individual pieces of paper and tape to a flat surface.

    3) Clearly & accurately mark BSC & heel center of your boot with a marker or grease pencil.

    4) If tech or tele bindings, attached the toe piece to the binding pins on the boot. Otherwise place alpine binding in toe piece

    5) Place boot and binding on the toe base sheet with your BSC at the corresponding, nearest 5mm BSC on the base sheet, along with heel centered on the center line. Measure from boot toe to front set of binding toe piece screw holes.

    6) Mark toe holes with pencil. Measure binding holes from one side to the same side (ie, left and left and bottom & bottom) along with diagonals. Mark on template base sheet.

    7) Do the same to the heel with the binding set to the middle of it’s adjustable range on the heel sheet. Measure from boot heel to rear holes of heel piece.

    8) If you have a flat bed scanner, scan the binding bottoms. (Ideally, with the boot attached.)
If you mark up and post the base template with dimensions, I could make a template.

I just swapped some Look junior binders around and had to make templates. Luckily I had old mounts to make it easy.
Made both the CompJ (Look/Rossi kids pattern that has been used forever) and the newer Kid4 binding that is mounted on the longer tracks.
I'l transfer these to Alpinord's template so we can finally get these to the masses!

Niiiice, looks good. Heel/toe lines are within 2mm (with my setup the toe line can come 1mm back/closer to BSL and the heel can come 2mm forward/closer to BSL but that is just one data point...)
With this mount I have 20mm of forward/smaller adjustment and 25mm of rearward/larger adjustment.
So maybe template can be tweaked to start off more centred in the range?

Edit to add: newer Comp Jr bindings have a longer heel track providing an additional 22mm of rearward adjustment.
Front of the adjustment range is same relative to the binding screws.

Now how do I setup the the newer Look 'Kid' binding on the base template?
It is essentially a demo binding so it is one mount pattern for all BSLs.

Could provide a distance to the center of the toe adjustment range relative to the rear toe holes AND the same for the heel adjustment range relative to the front holes. Between these two locations would be the BSL.

Per next comment, what for what years is this template useful?

What years are the newer Comp Jr? The rear has 47mm adjustment range? So this template would move the holes 11mm further to be in the center of that range, correct?

Boot sole center on the line between those settings on the toe & heel to locate the holes?

    Slatnar

Hello, I am part of the team at Slatnar company. I help to develop our ski touring bindings. I would like to upload our paper template, but it seems there is too big file size. Can I send it.
It is possible to download it here:

I'm looking at buying a pair of Spatulas that are mounted with some ancient Marker demos - wondering if that pattern is potentially the same as the Marker demos up to 2017-ish? Sounds like it changed for 2017/18?

Anyone else notice the Look Axial/Pivot R2 template heels aren't correct for the Pivot heels or am I missing something?

Trying to help a buddy out who just got some Salomon Stage 10 bindings for his kid, I never saw these before, does anyone know if these are the same hole pattern as the Strive or any other existing bindings?

Also for myself, looking for a Duke PT confirmed template. See a lot of talk about a Jester Rear and a shifted Kingpin front, but as any brave soul actually put together an idiot proof Duke PT template in one place? Need for a 315 BSL

I’ve been looking for a Dynafit demo template for a while with no luck. I think it’s called the Radical Test, but it’s basically the Dynafit rotation ST with a demo toe plate. The toe plate is proving to be the issue. Any help?

I made this because factory template was driving me bonkers. Keep in mind that touring boots are a little unpredictable, in terms of where the pins are, and even the BSL. If you want your mount to be dead nuts accurate, do a test mount first and adjust accordingly.
Guessing this template will also work for current ATK FR 15s - correct?? New binders are in the mail and want to be ready when they arrive. TIA
