Dude, you're young, you're still producing more cells than you're burning. Just a matter of time. Use it well and enjoy every day. I've been gimped since early June. But I'm getting closer...

Eat good food, your body needs it to mend. Comfrey root tea, aka 'the bone knitter.' They did do some bone work, yes?

im not allowed to do any rehab until next tuesday at the earliest, so i just get to lay around and do nothing. no bone work, just almost everything else.

ive been gimped since early december and was just starting to get back to my life when i got my knee done, so now i have to start the process over. i know everything will be fine, im just bored and hurting.

hows your knee splat, you going to be able to ski at all this year?

    hang in there

I know it drives us crazy to be out of commision. I'm three weeks post acl only with slight mensicus clean up. Used to be a PT and had 3 surgeries on other knee so I know the drill but it sucks. As we are active it is even worse, on top of it all no sleep and drugs that make you not quite yourself. Hang in there, it will get better. I feel like I should be much further ahead, but am really doing well overall. Vent to the people around you and to those that have gone through the same thing. It will all be worth it in the end. Also try to get out and be around people, if only for a little while every day it really seems to help overall attitude.

I remember having my ACL surgery 12 yrs ago and that was the hardest part... you finally start to heal, then get cut with the knife and have to start all over again. Now that I'm down for the count again, I'm frustrated too.... feeling like the time between injury and surgery is just time wasted. It's been a while since you posted, so hopefully you're beginning to feel better now! Hang in there!

totally agree with you both. I finally got "better" after the injury just in time to go down again. Basically I've been banged up for 2 straight months.....this is a test of patience for sure.

well, when i hurt my knee I also broke my pelvis and my back. finally started to heal from that surgery and then got the knee surgery.

i got 17 staples pulled on tuesday and was cleared for rehab. Rehab starts on monday and i cant wait to start to move my leg again. Because of the massive amount of reconstruction, im in a immobilizing brace until early march with zero weight bearing. im feeling much better, almost off the narcotic painkillers. bordom is my worst enemy right now.

Not to make light of the situation for I know about knees.

    BUT

I find it funny shit when one Mag goes long and causes another Mag to get pushed back.

Kind of like crossing swords, but with scalpels

Roon, I hope the rehab is going well. It must be nice to move the joint (even if it does hurt). Ya know, "Hurts sooo good."

rehab is going well. until i get my range of motion back i am going 5 times a week so i pretty much hurt all the time, but it is a 'good' hurt. already at 50 degrees flexion, but my muscles are soooo weak, 9 weeks of nothing will do that. still immobile and none weight bearing, but that should change on tuesday(fingers crossed).

What makes it even more funny is that I work in the hospital where McR was laid up and got to walk into the room in scrubs and ask for change and pass along some vibes. I was glad to see McR in relatively good spirits even though he was in a world of hurt.

Good on ya Matt, be patient and keep up the good work with the rehab. You'll be back to ripping it up sooner than later.

saw the doc yesterday, im finally allowed to start putting some weight on my knee but not full weight bearing for a few more weeks. im at about 70 degrees passive flexion which is about right for the amount of work i had done. crutches for another 3-4 weeks. im being patient and going to rehab 5x/week + a lot of stuff at home, but is slow going.

im finally writing up my full experience with the slide in december, ill post it up when im done. some of the pics and x-rays are...interesting.

Glad to hear you're making progress! You'll be off crutches soon and you'll be so happy! The worst is over! It's all downhill from here

looks like you are progressing Mc Roon. You will be better in no time. Patience, patience, patience. I go see the Doc today for my 7 week post op deal. Still lots of swelling, but the knee feels different this week, perhaps turning some sort of corner, I dunno.

Interesting this past week my PT told me that the day of your graft your graft is very strong and you feel like shit. From that point on, you get to feeling better while your graft gets weaker and weaker. IT is at its weakest point around week 8 or 10 when you feel your best. After that it begins to get strong again. Thought that was kinda cool.

long time since i updated this. Im back at college really enjoying my senior spring. Flexion is 0-125, still going to rehab 3x/week. everything is healing up nicely and my quads are finally stating to fire. Now i just need to keep on working at it and build back up all my lost muscle and everything will be sweet. No brace, no crutches, walking pretty much normally with only a slight limp. Forcing myself to stay out of bars/clubs/other crowded areas until it heals a little more. Overall, i am feeling pretty sweet about my knee!!!

I have 3 half days so far. I just got out of my brace last week, as it was much less painful to wear it when walking. Physical Terrorists are kickin my ass, I'm skiing, just got a Squaw pass for next year and six free tickets for Squaw to get me in shape for the Mammoth Mini.

I got some wicked atrophy to work past, but the worst is over and I'm gaping, but I'm skiing.
YOU'LL BE THERE SOON, TOO, DUDE!
