Thanks to everyone for the advice. Soo stoked on the move and the new job - as much as I love Bozeman, I will not miss what I've been doing, nor will I miss constantly being poor.
Lots of pics- I am curious to see what this all looks like in the end. Have fun. New adventures usually lead to new adventures, or so I have found.

It's great and I think everyone should chase their dreams and all that jazz, but realistically after the honeymoon period wears off it's damn tough to assimilate and get into a normal daily routine where you're comfortable. It's a different world entirely, and it's very difficult - especially for a white dude with a type A personality (ie: you.) I mean, you've gotta consider HI was basically a third world country up until about 50 years ago so in most aspects, it's still in its infancy as a state. There are a lot of things that go on there that will just seriously leave you dumbfounded.

The most familiar thing I could compare it to for someone who has never lived there is to picture yourself living on an indian reservation. Ask yourself how well that would work out for you?

Edit to add: sweet pics acostiga.

It is really annoying how you feel it's necessary to act as an authority on nearly every subject.

Take it easy on the pakalolo, brah. Hilo seemed like da kine when I went through there. Marginal, poor population but seems like there was more culture than anywhere else on the island.

Filthy - no chance on the pakalolo, FAA employee, DOT would have a problem with that.

P - yup we got a TRACON here, in the cab, so technically it's an up/up. Side bennie - when I have to go to radar training, I get to do it in Honolulu instead of flying all the way back to OKC. Added plus is I'll be training/memorizing on my actual airspace instead of fantasy bullshit FAA Academy la-la land.

I'm sure you'll get to know the locals soon enough.
What's the white/brown ratio like there these days?
Haven't been there since the 70s...

If this is who I think it is, she is about 16.
Siiiiickness. She specializes in some of those old school long board moves. Surfer girls.....sigh. Just wrong it is.

Good luck on the new digs jumper.
