    Dynastar/Look PX 12 is crap!

Mounted a pair of Dynastar PX 12 Big Trouble on my new skis this winter. I think it was my third ride on them, did a jump in the BC and landed in the backseat. The following happend.

    How is that even possible?

I've contacted the retailer back home but they want to have 70 Euros for shipping. Shouldn't they be able to arrange something with Dynastar so that I can get a new toe piece here in Breck?
I've been around in the stores here but they want to send it to Dynastar, and the estimated time is like 3 weeks before I get a new one. That's just not happening. Do anyone know what to do?

    Thanks

Hey d-bag - here's something for you to think about: maybe (just maybe) not everybody here has their little panties in a wad 24/7 and flies into a rage whenever somebody disagrees with them. Maybe these same mags don't take this place uber-seriously. Maybe this even includes the vast majority of the people who post here as opposed to you and like 20 other thin-skinned douchebags. Just something to think about. -JER

Should have gone with an all metal version of the binding.

Tech talk, but that is fucked, how much do you weigh? Were they purchased in the US. IF not you are screwed. If so, contact look/rossi at 800 992 3962.
I only ski on metal housing bug din bindings, this is the reason why.

    Good luck

    They all do that, sir.

It's called "multi-directional release." Can you imagine what your knee would've looked like if those hadn't done that? Consider yourself blessed.

    so it seems...
that exact same thing happened to my rossi axial2 120s (the same binding i think). took them to a good shop and they sent them back to rossi, who replaced them with 140s, so it ended up pretty good, but it took about a month.

needless to say, i won't be buying those again....

    good luck

Yikes. I thought the toe piece on the PX 12's was the same as the old Pivot P12/P14? I don't remember ever hearing of that happening, though.

    Oh yeah, tech talk!

damn, that sucks, but yes, the binding you broke could well have been the knee you saved!
i had a PX heel track bend on me with minimal force when i banged the ski into a tree...was likewise glad my knee didn't feel the brunt of the twisting force, but that was the last time i ever skiied my PXs...i have a pair of P12s on rock skis, but except those for my ZRS, i only ski on sollies thses days.

good luck getting issue resolved with dynastar/look

keeping calling and asking for someone different until you hear what you want to. It may take a few weeks, but you shouldn't have to pay shipping.

That's the upward release at the toe they talk about
Be careful about buying snowboard goggles for skiing. Snowboard goggles come in right eye and left eye (for goofy-footers) dominant models. This can make it hard to see correctly when skiing because you are facing straight down the hill, not sideways.

Ask over in gear swap, maybe someone has some P18's (or other cheaper, used look/rossi turntables) or PX15's available nearby where you are. Buy those, put them on. Send the PX12's back when it's easy for you, then sell the pair you get. Done.

interesting, usually the toe piece would rip out of K2s...the stores are blowing smoke up your ass worldwide warranty and they should replace out of stock (for minimum charges to cover their shipping when they send the pieces back)....

I've been skiing on Look PX 12's for a couple years and in general Looks my my whole life and have never had a problem. Ski 100+ days a year and send air mail often. Top quality product and no complaints.
